Founded in 1869, in Newcastle as one of the city’s very earliest builders merchants, JT Dove’s shareholding was given to a trust for the benefit of employees in 1954. The EBT operates an employee profit share scheme giving employees a direct stake in the success of the business of the company.

Timber in Sunderland & J T Dove merged their 223 years of experience. Nordstrom Timber offers a huge range of timber and sheet materials, including a full range of specialist machining facilities.

John A Stephens was set up in 1967, and occupies a huge seven-acre site in the heart of Nottingham. There is also a second branch, located just south of the River Trent, in West Bridgford.
