IBC FOCUS: IBC Awards 2024 IBC CELEBRATES EXCELLENCE A
AMONGST INDEPENDENT MERCHANTS The IBC Gala Dinner & Awards took place on 29 February, 2024 at Whittlebury Park in Northamptonshire, where more than 350 Members, Supplier Partners and Service Providers gathered together to celebrate excellence among independent merchants and the suppliers who support them.
s part of the event, nine awards were presented to IBC Members and Suppliers who have gone above and beyond over the past 12 months, highlighting just what can be achieved when companies engage with each other and work together in partnership for the benefit of all. The winners and finalists on the night were:
• Best Self-Select Area: Cumbria Building Supplies (finalists: Nicholls & Clarke and All Trades Supplies) • Best Landscape Display: County Town Aggregates (finalists: Thompsons of Crews Hill and Cumbria Building Supplies) • Environmental Initiative of the Year: Nicholls & Clarke (finalists: Build It and ABC Depot) • Young Achiever of the Year: Arron Green, Selhurst Timber (finalists: Kieran Jones, SWM Insulations and Harvey Mattu, Payless DIY) • Member of the Year: Payless DIY (finalists: Bedford Timber and Selhurst Timber) • Account Manager of the Year: Adam Crossan, Toolbank (finalists: Kev Warner, U Value Insulation; and Ian Stevenson, Mannok) • Marketing Initiative of the Year: Bolton Builders’ Merchants (finalists: All Trades Supplies and Payless DIY) • IBC Supplier of the Year: Mannok (finalists: IKO and Siniat) • Service Provider of the Year: Worldpay (finalists: Fleetmaxx and Utilink). The event was hosted by magician and presenter Ben Hanlin, who entertained the audience with some fantastic close-up magic that fascinated and enthralled everyone who attended. Hanlin is well-known for having competed on Britain’s Got Talent, having become the first ever magician to receive a ‘yes’ from all three judges. He also competed on Dancing on Ice and presented ITV2 series ‘Tricked’ from 2013 to 2016.
The Gala Dinner was sponsored by Kerridge Commercial Systems, while Marsh Industries sponsored the Pre-Dinner Drinks. IBC Buying Group also used the event to highlight an incredible charity cause, with a silent auction helping to raise funds for the Unitas Youth Zone. Based in Barnet, North

London, Unitas is an independent charity and purpose-built facility that provides a safe space for young people aged 8-19, and up to 25 for those with disabilities. Unitas, part of the OnSide Youth Zones initiative, gives young people the opportunity to raise their aspirations and confidence, while learning valuable life skills and having access to trained support workers.
The Unitas centre offers sports and fitness programmes, multimedia and music equipment, as well as helping young people learn about health, nutrition and wellbeing. They also run an employability programme to help young people explore their future career pathways. You can learn more about Unitas at
