Tom Kozlowicz back at the helm of Chamber Board of Directors

In December 2021 Tom Kozlowicz was elected by the Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors to serve a two-year term as president of the Board, replacing Sarah Allen of FNBC Bank, who had served two two-year terms. Tom, who is a long-time Board member and previously served as president before

Sarah, said he believes he was picked because this is a time of transition for the Chamber. “We knew we would be having a change-over this year, with Sherri (Farley)

retiring. Te Board wanted a mature veteran to work through this transition. Sherri would never leave the Chamber unless it was in good hands.” Tom said the Executive Board will be monitoring the transition throughout the year. He also said there is a lot going on not only in the Chamber but also in the City

of Yorkville. “I want to see the Yorkville businesses thrive and grow after the devastation of the Covid experience,” Tom said. “I

want to encourage more businesses to grow and build within the Yorkville area. Last year Yorkville grew at about 7%. Tat’s phenomenal. No city around is growing any faster and it appears this year will be even bigger. Tere are tremendous things on our horizon. I think it’s almost like the Roaring 20’s after the1918 Flu pandemic.” He mentioned a lettuce factory being built on the western edge of Yorkville, and he said, because of the success of

Yorkville’s Smoothie King, a Ross store is coming to Kendall Marketplace. “We have a great business environment. I want to continue this in the City of Yorkville.”

Chamber Ribboning Cutting Welcomes New Administrative Assistant, Rennovated Office Te Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony in April to mark its move back into its

rennovated offices on the lower floor of Old Second National Bank, 26 W. Countryside Pkwy., Yorkville, and to introduce the Chamber’s new membership assistant, Emily Ferrell. Emily, who began working at the Chamber on March 7, has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and

Hospitality from Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL Her work background includes sales and event management. As for the rennovation of the office space, which took place from September to December 2021, Chamber Executive

Director Renee Tortorella reports that they have new carpeting, fresh paint on the walls, and new furniture, and that they are unpacked at last. “Everything is new and shiny,” Renee said. “We now have extra workspace and we have rearranged things a little bit.

We’d especially like to thank Old Second Bank for the new furniture.” She invites everyone to come and visit. Te Chamber office is open for business.
