Yorkville Library Offers Hybrid Classes, Events

of National Library Week,” said the library’s new director, Shelley Augustine. “It’s fun to participate.” Augustine, who has been working parttime at the

library since 2006, and has worked in every department over those years, assumed the directorship a year ago, in the middle of the Covid pandemic. She said there are a lot of positive things going on at the library, including it recently receiving a federal American Relief Fund digital inclusion grant for just short of $10,000. Te money will be used to buy laptops, and create hotspots, mobile internet, for library customers.

As of May 1, Augustine said, the library will drop the fine for late books that are returned. Te library also is offering hybrid book clubs, creative writing groups, genealogy research groups (it’s affiliated with the library of Family Search) and such sessions as Internet to Go and Learn to Print 3-D virtually. For those who are still concerned about coming into the building, Augustine said library workers will bring books out to them in a drive-through.
