Duy’s Shoes, Incorporated
How do I make my foot feel better?
Tod Duy says that’s one of the main questions he gets asked by people coming to Duy’s Shoes, Inc. at 135 E. Veterans Pkwy, Yorkville. “We’ve found there are so
many people who need more service,” Tod, president of Duy’s Shoes, Inc., says. “We actually sit down and measure your foot. We do it every time you come in, because your foot changes over the years. And shoes run so differently in the same size from different makers in different styles. It really makes a difference to have somebody measure your feet properly.” Founded in 1954 in Sandwich, IL. by Ralph Duy,

father of Tod, the business opened a second store in Yorkville in 2002 to attract new residents from the Oswego and Yorkville area who didn’t go to Sandwich to shop. “Dad retired in 1979 and passed away in 2017,”
Tod says. “My son Alex is now coming into the business and starting to take over different aspects. We are a second generation owned and operated business, with the third generation in the wings.” Te Yorkville store is now its sole location. In 2014
the building housing the Sandwich store was sold. Tod decided to focus on the Yorkville location, which he says has been a success. Tey cut back on their inventory, removing children’s footware and overshoes, because of less space and because these items are easily available at discount stores. What they do offer is Birkenstock, San Antonio Shoe Co., and Red Wing and new lines like Oboz and Taos, all shoes made in the USA,” he says. Duy’s Shoes carries shoes in widths from slim to triple wide, and will special-order if needed. Because their shoes come in so many different widths, they can fit most widths out there, Tod says. “We take care of people who have swelling
problems. We get a lot of skinny feet. We get a lot of referrals from local doctors. We carry diabetic shoes and orthotics.” Although 98% of what they do is shoes, they also
have a lot of school jackets for high schools in Yorkville, Plano, Sandwich and Somonauk and Yorkville Christian. Tod says they do students name embroidery and they have a seamstress who stitches on all patches that a school gives or they purchase.
Duy’s Shoes, Inc. is open seven days a week, Mon-Fri.
from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sat., 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Sun., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tey are closed on major holidays. Tod encourages customers to join the store’s text list by texting the word Duy to 815-270-6986 and following the prompts. For more information, go to the store website at
