MAKING CONNECTIVITY ULTRA EASY FOR UHD Argosy BY DAVID FOX
The new Argosy Ultra range of 4K cables, connectors, BNCs, terminal panels and patch panels slot into traditional SDI infrastructure to simplify the move to UHD/4K, without needing expensive fi bre infrastructure upgrades.
Chris Smeeton, Director,
Argosy, said: “One of the key advantages of the Ultra suite is its compatibility with SDI.
Unlike fi bre, which requires off- site termination and complex threading through existing infrastructures, it empowers users to utilise standard copper cables and connectors that can be effortlessly terminated on-site.” The end-to-end Ultra suite encompasses a range of 4K/UHD products, including the Image 360 Ultra, Image 1000 Ultra and Image 1500 Ultra coax cables. Primarily used for in-rack wiring and OB trucks, these UHD-SDI digital video cables are designed to deliver superior performance for
4K/UHD-SDI video applications. The new coax Korus Ultra HD 12G BNC has been tested to meet SMPTE ST2081-1 and ST2082-1 at 6G and 12G, for use with the Argosy Image Ultra coax cables. 4K Ultra Termination and Ultra Patch panels complete the range.
The Ultra suite leverages the advantages of copper cabling, boasting durability and cost- effectiveness, and should thrive even in harsh environments, such as sports and events, as well as permanent broadcast facilities. 10.C51
