customers, we’re continuously innovating to deliver solutions that help customers embrace the emerging technologies, formats and standards that accompany these shifts, with the reliability and support they require along their journey.
What are the main areas of focus for your company during IBC2023?
How is your company helping its customers to address the challenges faced by the media and entertainment industry? Audience appetite for high- quality content continues to grow while content creation and delivery timelines and budgets tighten. M&E professionals are being asked to do more with less while also navigating industry technology shifts, such as the transitions from SDI to IP, and SDR to HDR, as well as the continued rise of virtual production, and more. Working closely with industry standards bodies, technology partners and AJA
Ultra-low latency I/O, streaming, IP transport, high dynamic range (HDR), virtual production and data management remain key areas of focus for AJA at IBC2023.
Which trends or themes do you expect to emerge during IBC2023?
Consumer demand for dynamic video viewing experiences is increasingly spilling over into markets like education, healthcare and corporate training, so we anticipate HDR and ultra-low latency video to be a focus of conversations at IBC2023. While HDR has quickly become a production standard in recent years, the technologies and workflows to support it are still
rapidly evolving, and achieving ultra-low latency live video processing remains a crucial focus for technology developers, so we expect to see some new developments in these areas at the show.
As content developers continue to work to meet consumer demand, an unprecedented volume of high-quality content is being created, stored and delivered every day. Keeping track of all that data as it moves between on-premises and cloud storage is a complex endeavour, making data and media asset management also prime topics of interest. Outside of these themes, we also anticipate talk around new evolutions in video- over-IP, cinematography, camera- to-cloud and virtual production workflows. All of these topics will also likely be influenced by growing conversation around the responsible use of artificial intelligence in the M&E industry.
What are your priorities for the next 12 months? In the next year, AJA will continue to prioritise working with our
OPENING THE GATEWAY TO OPTICAL TRANSPORT
Bluebell Opticom BY DAVID FOX
Optical transport specialist Bluebell Opticom has several new products for ultra-low latency high-bandwidth connectivity for live video, audio and data signals. Its new BN880 ST2110 gateway for content acquisition can be an IP encapsulator for camera signals, or work behind a monitor as a decapsulator. It is said to offer a flexible way to convert video to and from uncompressed IP. It expands on the BC880 range of
ST2110 gateways, which provide multichannel conversion between SDI and ST2110 IP.
The BN812 is a multi-rate Ethernet-to-fibre converter equipped with PoE+, delivering up to 30W over a twisted pair. It is useful for PTZ cameras with NDI output, offering a single- cable connection that simplifies installation and maintenance. The new BN368 is a compact
throw-down multiformat converter that can take different SFP converter modules (two per unit), to cater for different applications. Options include distribution, format conversion, monitoring
and wavelength management, including CWDM. There is also a new BN-4 CWDM multiplexer, for multiplexing or demultiplexing optical wavelengths onto or from single-mode fibre
using an ST connector. Each unit allows up to four channels to be combined/separated with a 20nm wavelength spacing based on ITU G.694.2 specifications. 11.B07
customer base to develop and release new products and updates that address emerging user needs as the M&E and pro-AV markets continue to evolve and adapt to evolving industry trends and technologies. We have some exciting things in the works!
What sets your company apart as a technology leader? We are passionate about the media industry and we love the technology the industry uses. Our team of engineers, product managers and support staff talk to and work directly with AJA users and technology partners to ensure our technology continually meets their needs.
