PARTNER SESSIONS TO EXPLORE CLOUD, DAB+ AND HDR Partner sessions take place in two locations today, with SMPTE, IEEE BTS and the IET hosting sessions in Room E102, and the European Digital Cinema Forum (EDCF) hosting a three-hour seminar in Room E105.
SMPTE starts the day with a session focusing on enabling workfl ows in the multi-cloud environment. In ‘Architecting Multi- cloud and On-prem Workfl ows’ Solutions for Global Production Needs’, a panel consisting of Jan Weigner, President & CEO, Cinegy; Geeter Kyrazis, Chief Strategy Offi cer,
swXtch.io; Andy Beach, CTO Media & Entertainment, Microsoft Industry Solutions; and Anshul Kapoor, Head of Media Broadcasting Solutions, Google Cloud, will discuss shifting towards the application of ST2110 and related technologies into cloud environments.
This is followed by ‘DAB+: A fi rm foundation for radio’.
This informative session, led by WorldDAB, will explore how digital broadcast radio is empowering the radio industry for a strong future and uncover inspiring case studies from broadcasters around the world. Expect discussion around the value and contributions made by radio broadcasters and DAB+ network operators, and the economic advantages and environmental sustainability of this cutting-edge technology.
At 13:00, Ian Nock, Vice Chair at IET Media, will lead ‘Scaling TV – The IET John Logie Baird Lectures at IBC’. TV is in transition to full IP-based delivery driven by consumer behaviour and the worldwide growth in broadband connectivity. This introduces a whole new thinking on all aspects of building services, infrastructure and distribution, whether on fi xed line broadband or 4GLTE/5G. At 14:00, ‘Unlocking Sustainability: Innovating a greener future in
broadcast and media’ begins. This three-hour, IEEE BTS-led programme includes an Opening Keynote from Manuel Belmar of Grupo Globo explaining how the group leads with sustainability, while Larissa Görner, Chief Technology Offi cer, Proximus Media House, will explore ‘Integrating Sustainability into Your Media Enterprise: How to get started’. After a short break, panellists
Vincent Grivet (LoCat), Dan Shien (DiMPACT), Dom Robinson (Greening of Streaming), Erik Reinhard (ITU-R), Tom Moran (Lumen) and Kristan Bullett (Humans Not Robots), will discuss energy consumption in broadcast, before the Consumer Technology Association’s Sustainable Initiatives are brought into focus in ‘Paving the Way for a Greener Future’. At the same time (14:00-17:00) in Room E105, the EDCF will be hosting its Global Cinema Seminar. This will address the key issues
