PERSEO MEDIA HAS STRONG BACKBONE

Aire Networks BY ADRIAN PENNINGTON

Perseo Media is a modular cloud service designed to allow clients to manage their own streaming platform and distribute video and/ or audio content with greater reach and scalability. The technology from Aire Networks enables users to customise their platform, choosing from a range of modules and features. In addition, Aire Networks says it has the infrastructure and equipment necessary for the transport and transcoding of multimedia

signals, ensuring the transmission of content anywhere. This includes access to parent Grupo

Aire’s network of 33,000km of backbone.

The full package includes solutions for the creation of customised OTT platforms, namely digital signage software and centralised management of content displayed simultaneously on digital screens. A transport service is compatible with the main transmission protocols, while a transcoding and CDN mechanism ensure the delivery of AV content with the lowest latency. 3.C59

STANDING TALL WITH VERTICALLY POLARISED ANTENNAS Kathrein Broadcast

BY KEVIN EMMOTT

IBC2023 is seeing a European debut from Kathrein Broadcast as it expands its range of UHF polarised cardioid antennas with the launch of a vertically polarised version.

Adding to Kathrein’s range of horizontal and elliptical UHF plug- and-play antennas, the launch caters for network operators who prefer vertically polarised transmission. Both broadband UHF cardioid antennas are vertically polarised and may be top- or side-mounted.

Kathrein says its antennas are fully assembled and can handle power up to 5kW. They come in a slim, self-supporting glass reinforced plastic cylinder with low weight and low wind load designed to withstand a wind speed of up to 240km/h.

The antennas are also characterised with low VSWR/Return Loss. Initially, four-bay and eight-bay versions will be offered, with other variations on request. Kathrein says they are an economical choice for metropolitan MPMT transmitters or gap-fi llers in UHF DTV, ATSC 3.0 or 5G broadcast networks. 8.C50
