CORNERCAM WORLD PREMIERE AT IBC SAPEC
BY ADRIAN PENNINGTON
Making its public debut at IBC is CornerCam, a system patented by Spanish company SAPEC to capture even the smallest detail from the corner of a football stadium. The solution consists of a 50mm-diameter fl ag that houses two HD 1080i resolution cameras with remote horizontal panning and all the necessary connectivity to operate in the most demanding broadcast environment.
This innovation was tested at the fi nal of the 2023 Copa del Rey football tournament in partnership with the RFEF (Spanish Football Federation). “The result could not have been more positive,” stated Miguel Ángel Cristóbal, CEO of SAPEC. “We’ve earned the recognition of the production teams and the spectators, who were able to enjoy live and replayed footage such as corner kicks and goal celebrations.” The company has a growing track record in sporting tech. OS TURNS IT UP TO 11 Atomos BY DAVID FOX
Atomos has introduced its latest operating system, AtomOS 11, running on its newly revamped Ninja, Ninja Ultra, Shogun and Shogun Ultra monitor recorders. The OS offers more codec choices; a new UI; improved functionality; effi cient camera- to-cloud workfl ows; and the new Atomos RemoteView. It now offers: scheduled playback and recording, including timelapse; greater support for industry-standard tools, such as Arri false colour; and Segment Pro which gives control over the size of clips (it
Women’s World Cup and the World Athletics Championships were all broadcast over DTT in UHD in Spain using its SIVAC- ON encoder/decoder – also demoed here at IBC. The fi rm’s UHD/HD/SD multichannel platform LAGUNA, which supports HEVC, H.264 and MPEG-2 standards, also presents its new UHD licence for the fi rst time at the RAI. SAPEC has further improved this system with a thumbnail display that enables the mosaic of each SDI signal. 1.C93

can automatically segment by size or time). “RemoteView allows remote monitoring across the public internet,” said Atomos CEO Trevor Elbourne. Users can share live views from an Atomos screen with other Atomos monitors, as well as with iOS, Macs and Apple TV wirelessly, for remote monitoring of what’s happening on-set and access to connected cameras from anywhere. Each view can be confi gured independently, so an Apple TV could display quad view, while an iPad might have two feeds displayed. “The signal also gets looped out over HDMI and SDI, so you can use it to pull signals into a traditional switching

UNLOCKING THE TOOLBOX WITH A FIGURE OF EIGHT Sennheiser
BY KEVIN EMMOTT
In Hall 8, Sennheiser is previewing its MKH 8030 RF condenser microphone, the newest addition to its existing MKH 8000 series microphone family. The sound signature of the MKH 8030 has been engineered to blend in with the sound of the existing range and features a fi gure-of-eight pick-up pattern
which unlocks M-S, double M-S and Blumlein stereo recording options.
It also shares the range’s extended low and high frequency response (30-50,000Hz) and low inherent self-noise, which Sennheiser says enables the MKH 8030 to capture a sound with wide dynamics, low distortion and a frequency-independent polar pattern to avoid colouration. It provides an option wherever the highest attenuation of
neighbouring sound sources is required, such as a PA system or an adjacent instrument whose sound needs to be eliminated. “This is the missing link in our range,” said Malte Lahrmann, Sennheiser’s Product Manager for the MKH 8030. “A fi gure of eight is very useful for fi eld recording because it is so fl exible, and it is also useful for orchestral recordings due to its off-axis rejection of sound.” 8.D50, 8.C47
proxies for immediate review or editing on the cloud. All the hardware also gains WiFi 6 (plus the 6GHz WiFi 6E for the Ultras). 11.D25
