HYPER-CONVERGENCE LAYS THE GROUND FOR SAVINGS Ross Video BY KEVIN EMMOTT

From its new location in Hall 9, Ross is promising an immersive experience focusing on XR, AI, robotic cameras, cloud production and hyper-converged infrastructures. With sustainability and effi ciency an industry focus, the company says its Ultrix Hyperconverged platform shrinks the production infrastructure footprint to provide savings in space, cabling and power consumption. David Ross, CEO, Ross Video, said: “Taking a video signal in and out of a box uses more power,

more processing and takes up more space. Keeping everything in one box saves power, space and cost. The trick is to have the products and technology to put it all in one box, and fortunately, Ross has bought 19 companies’ worth of technology. Hyper- convergence is the manifestation of all that coming together.” Ross is demonstrating several new developments including two new cards: the Ultrix-MODX-IO is a modular I/O card, while the Ultrix- IPX-IO card enhances ST2110 workfl ows with greater bandwidth capabilities and effi ciencies in distributed architectures. The Ultristream licence facilitates streaming multiviewer outputs

and user-centricity are refl ected in everything we do.” Pre-confi gured Satcube Ku and data service enables users to create a WiFi hotspot within minutes. Intelsat FlexMove data packages are available from 3GB-240GB. Robust broadband connectivity is available in 190 countries with 24/7 support. There are live demos of the new terminal running daily on the Satcube stand. 0.A15, 2.A31

DATA KNOWLEDGE CRUCIAL FOR AI APPLICATION Viaccess-Orca

BY ADRIAN PENNINGTON

According to Philippe Leonetti, CEO, Viaccess-Orca (VO), “everyone can use ChatGPT”. “The point is how you apply it,” he continued. “That is the difference we are bringing.” On the Hall 1 stand, Leonetti is telling IBC visitors about VO’s approach to AI. He focuses in particular on tying in its security expertise and unique data to Microsoft Azure OpenAI and other large language models (LLM). He explained: “To optimise AI

performance you need to have data, but having data or analytics tools or cloud is not enough. You must know what you want to achieve; you have to really understand data, and you have to be expert at using it.” AI can be used to improve the technical quality of video services by training models over time on network data to anticipate changes before they impact the customer. “Our focus is not technology,” he said. “Our focus is on improving our customer’s experience by using our knowledge of their systems to build relevant solutions.” Other LLM-fuelled innovations highlighted by VO include

advanced personalised content recommendations. These are made through the alignment of pre-trained LLMs and exploit data collected from VO’s TV platform. Alice Wittenberg, Head of AI at VO, says this will boost recommendation outcomes and lead to improved user interactions. She added: “A fake Disney movie, for example, can be created in seconds using LLMs and poses formidable challenges to future investment by studios in content. We are showing a mitigation approach to copyright theft and brand identity protection through our watermarking solution.” 1.A51
