30 BE PART OF THE EQUALITY AND INCLUSIVITY CONVERSATION
The theme of People and Purpose is in focus throughout IBC today, particularly in the Changemaker Programme which runs all day in the Forum. Returning after a successful debut in 2022, Changemakers shares a powerful line-up of stories spanning equity, inclusion and sustainability. Highlights of today’s programme include ‘Inclusive Tech: Vision 2030’ with Sasha Scott, Head of Transformation Services, EBU and Soumya Sriraman, President of Streaming, Qurate Retail Group. They’ll take a look at where we are now when it comes to inclusivity, what needs to change and the opportunities ahead. This is followed by ‘The Creative Centipede with an Inclusive Soul’, an in-depth look at Omroep ZWART, the fi rst intrinsically inclusive TV broadcasting station in The Netherlands. Founder Akwasi Ansah will share his personal story and vision for a digital-fi rst landscape which is equitable, inclusive and accessible. Jabbar Sardar, Global HR Director at BBC Studios, will then explain how the company puts its people fi rst and empowers employees as well as revealing some future plans.
This afternoon sees the Rise
Awards shortlist reveal at 14:45. The awards are a celebration of the talent, skills, expertise and achievements of exceptional
women across the broadcast technology and services sectors. This is followed by an afternoon tea LGBTQ+ panel special that celebrates authenticity and shares real-life experiences of being LGBTQ+ in the industry. It features Paul Pastor, Chief Business Offi cer and Co-Founder, Quickplay. Expect talk about the importance of representation and allyship, and how to do it right, in the Forum from 15:30.
The importance of allyship is also picked up in a networking breakfast in the Forum from 10:00- 11:00 tomorrow as the themes of equality and inclusivity continue in Monday’s content programme. In the Forum, Paramount Global’s Wincie Knight, SVP Global Inclusion, International Markets, will debate how to keep the inclusion momentum going at 11:00, as well as sharing best practices for positioning diversity, equity and inclusion as a top priority. The fi nal session of the 2023 Changemaker Programme will then look at the tech driving a more inclusive future. In ‘A Manifesto for Change: Designing our work/life differently’, Wesa Aapro, Creative Technologist and Futurist, YLE, and Amy Woltemath, Vice President, People Partnering & People Operations, Sky Deutschland, will explore the changes we need to make, and design into the fabric of

In addition, the Partner Sessions in Room E102 on Monday will see SMPTE discuss its use of the EBU’s EuroVOX tool to make education more accessible. The tool currently supports at least 65 languages and dialects for transcription and almost 20,000 different language pairs for translation. SMPTE is implementing it to
translate technical documents and virtual classes for global access. SMPTE will also share how the organisation plans to further the collaboration to enable global equity in engineering education and explore what other applications may be useful to the global audience.
