SIMPLIFYING SCHEDULING FOR LIVE ENTERTAINMENT Dramatify

BY KEVIN EMMOTT

Finnish public broadcaster YLE and cloud-production platform Dramatify have launched an innovative scheduling tool at IBC which aims to transform the manual process of organising live entertainment and music shows.

Automating scheduling for live entertainment is complex due to the many rehearsals, co-ordination of large crews and multiple shows which share partial content. The Entertainment Scheduling tool provides fi ltering to enable managers to tailor schedule views and combine fi lters by specifi c events, departments, cast members or groups.

Rami Lindholm, Content & Media Supervisor, YLE, said: “Productions are getting increasingly complex, and we need to simplify production workfl ows. Using traditional workfl ows, people get stressed due to the diffi culty of fi nding relevant information. In contrast, the philosophy of Dramatify is

to gather all production data. Crew members can fi lter relevant information and know exactly what happens and when. If the sound check time changes, the sound crew sees the changes in real time. All times related to the sound check time also change on everybody´s mobile view.” Addressing complexities at events like the Eurovision Song Contest, the Entertainment Scheduling tool expands the Dramatify production platform. The platform currently offers remote production rundowns integrated with cue cards and teleprompters, as well as managing cast and crew schedules, call sheets, and makeup and wardrobe details. 7.D43

The range of Optimod audio processors has expanded at IBC with the addition of Optimod Trio and Optimod 5750 to the product portfolio.

Building on the success of the Optimod 5950, Optimod 5750 replaces the Optimod 5700i and provides FM as well as HD processing for DAB+, HD Radio and streaming. The FM and HD settings can be coupled or adjusted independently. For countries requiring the multiplex power to be constrained to a specifi ed limit, the ITU BS.412 Multiplex

DK-H700 CAMERA PUTS 4K HDR IN ITS BOX

Hitachi Kokusai Electric Europe BY DAVID FOX

Hitachi’s latest box camera is the 4K DK-H700, which uses the same optical block as its SK- UHD7000 (launched last year), but in a much smaller package. Mark Capstick, General Manager – Broadcast Solution Sales, Hitachi Kokusai Electric

Europe, said: “It is ideal for pan and tilt systems, or to use on a Steadicam with wireless links, or as a companion camera to the system camera.”

The DK-H700 multi-format camera uses 2/3in, RGB, 8.3m-pixel CMOS native global shutter sensors, combined with advanced digital signal processing. It also has HDR support, complying with the ITU-R BT.2020 wide colour gamut specifi cations and the REC BT2100 High Dynamic Range standards. It can also produce independent programme outputs in a dual workfl ow confi guration (HDR and SDR) for both HDTV and/or UHD SDI output formats.

It has a 1/4-ND fi lter for

reduced depth-of-fi eld shooting, both to add artistic value and to reduce the moiré effect on video walls. 11.C28

Power Control can be activated to ensure compliance while controlling MPX power smoothly and reliably. The ITU-R BS.1770- 4 loudness control facilitates compliance with modern target loudness recommendations like EBU R 128.

Meanwhile, the Optimod Trio

provides three audio processors in one box and can be confi gured as an AM audio processor, FM processor or as a HD Radio/ DAB+/streaming processor. In HD mode, Trio is also suitable for TV audio processing. Both models provide analogue, AES3, composite and digital MPX,

as well as AES67/SMPTE ST2110 inputs and outputs. Additionally, optional µMPX allows a cost- effective transmission of digital MPX signals over IP. The onboard RDS/RBDS generator supports dynamic PS scrolling and IP access. 8.D93
