While 10-by-10 non-climate-controlled units came within five cents of Q3 2016 pricing, 5-by-10 and 10-by-10 climate-controlled units showed four-cent and two-cent dips respectively.


While the rental rate trends follow somewhat of the same


pattern as other regions, there is one anomaly that stands out:


Rental rates did not come back up to June 2016 pricing for all unit sizes across both categories ...


South Region Rental Rates Table 8.19 compares the monthly pricing of climate- controlled vs. non-climate-controlled facilities in the East South Central subregion of the South.


While the rental rate trends follow somewhat of the same


pattern as other regions, there is one anomaly that stands out: Rental rates did not come back up to June 2016 pricing for all unit sizes across both categories except for the 10-by-20s, which exceeded 2016 rates. For non-climate-controlled units, rental rates for June 2017 came in at $169.10—$3.10 higher than the July 2016 rates. Climate-controlled unit pricing also showed a 50-cent increase above July 2017’s rate of $223.


For climate-controlled units, the 5-by-5s came the closest to


July 2016 numbers, lagging behind by only $1.60. Next in terms of reaching 2016 numbers, there was a $2.80 shortfall for 5-by- 10 climate-controlled units, followed by $3 for 10-by-15 units. The 10-by-10s, commanding $131.70 per month in June of 2017, were the farthest from 2016’s rate of $136.20 ($4.50).


Non-climate-controlled units on the other hand, showed


the greatest disparity in pricing. While 5-by-10 units showed only a $1.20 shortfall from July 2016 rates, 5-by-5s trailed by $3. Rates for 10-by-10 units, however, lagged by $5.70 and 10-by- 15 units showed the greatest gap at $7.80.


The rental rate trends for the East South Central subregion of the South are reflected quarterly per square foot in Tables 8.20 and 8.21.





 
