an assault on a 12- year-old girl in Goring in 1984. He was also found guilty of four years of abuse against a girl in Hartlepool between 1993 and 1997. She was 12 when he first as- saulted her. Crouch, who was liv- ing in Lancashire at the time of his sen-

tencing, will serve 21 years in custody plus a further five years on extended prison licence. He will also be a regis- tered sex offender for life. The former cabbie was caught after an investigation by det- ectives from the
West Sussex Safe- guarding Team which began after officers received information relating to his crimes in 2017. DC Andrew Roe praised the bravery of Crouch’s victims who came forward to help convict him. He said: “Crouch, who lived and worked as a taxi driver in both Hartle- pool and Little- hampton during the 1980s and 1990s, came to know his three young victims through family and friends, and ruth- lessly took ad-
vantage of them for his own sexual grati- fication, against two of them over a peri- od of years.
“One victim who suffered in silence for many
years
afterwards, bravely found the resolve to come to us in May 2017. “We immediately began enquiries and traced the other two victims. All three supported our in- vestigation through- out and resolutely gave evidence at Crouch’s trial, for which they have our admiration.”
HALIFAX TAXI DRIVER SUSPECTED OF DEALING DRUGS FROM HIS CAR
The drugs inside a can of de-icer found inside a taxi in St Helens
Newton-Le-Willows, was arrested on sus- picion of possession with intent to supply drugs and drug driv- ing. The passenger, a 25- year-old man from Haydock, was also arrested on suspi- cion of possession with intent to supply drugs.
Both have since been released under investigation. Merseyside Police Superintendent
Tami Garvey-Jones said: “Taxi drivers have a duty of care to those they are driving around the region and being under the influence of drugs heavily effects their judge- ment and driving ability and puts pas- sengers and other road users in huge danger. “This shouldn’t be tolerated by anyone, whether in St Helens or elsewhere.”
A Halifax taxi driver suspected of deal- ing drugs from his car has been arrest- ed by police officers. According to the Halifax Courier, Neighbourhood Pol- icing Team officers conducted a traffic stop on the taxi fol- lowing intelligence provided to the police that the driv- er was dealing drugs from the vehicle. Following a search, the driver was ar- rested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug due to drugs being found upon his person. A search of the vehi- cle and his home address resulted in more controlled drugs being located. A spokesperson for

the policing team said: “The taxi was seized and taxi licensing have been made aware of this incident so they can take appropriate action against the driver. “A handful of tasks now need to
be done in order to
gather the evidence against the taxi driv- er, these include sending the pills for forensic examination to identify exactly what drug it is and sending his phone for downloading, amongst other cru- cial evidential requirements.”
