ICABBI TAKES EXTREME MEASURES TO SUPPORT TAXI FLEETS DURING COVID-19 AND CALLS FOR SOLIDARITY IN THE INDUSTRY
Dublin, Monday 30th March, 2020 - Dis- patch software pro- vider iCabbi has taken swift and robust measures to help its customers during the Coron- avirus crisis. Data from iCabbi’s Insights tool indi- cates that bookings are down over 50% in almost all markets with the UK being amongst the worst hit, showing a 72% reduction in book- ings over the past week. Gavan Walsh, CEO of iCabbi, stated: “We’ve taken quick and decisive action, because we’re in no doubt of how seri- ous this unprece-
dented situation is for the taxi industry. Our primary objec- tive is to support our customers through this crisis and be a strong partner for the taxi industry to help it recover.” A strategic plan was devised with iCabbi’s investment partner Renault, including job losses, mostly in the areas of sales and implementations. “We’ve had to make some truly difficult decisions in order to stay lean through the crisis and help our customers ride out the storm. “We’ve retained all of our customer fac- ing teams, and R&D remains strongly re-
sourced. We’ve still got 140 people working towards the future of the taxi industry. I’m confi- dent that the talent we’ve built up here, and our partnership with Renault will prove to be a defin- ing advantage to our customers through COVID-19 and be- yond.”
iCabbi has put a number of special supports in place: ● iCabbi is giving all customers two months’ free dis- patch fees for April and May to help keep fleets in busi- ness.
● They will also give free access to the iCabbi Insights
tool to give cus- tomers a clear view of key sur- vival metrics.
● An online COVID- 19 Resource Hub has been set up on
iCabbi.com with information and guidance available to the entire taxi industry.
● Meanwhile, a spe- cial COVID-19 Task Force has been established to ex- plore and deliver further initiatives to support customers and the industry as the crisis develops.
These measures were warmly re- ceived by iCabbi customers. Accom- panying these an- nouncements was a
public call from Walsh for solidarity in the taxi industry. “This is a time for the taxi community to stand together and support one another to keep this great trade alive. We’re calling on other providers to step up and support their fleets, and to do so with transparency. I’m disappointed to see some companies attempt to take ad- vantage of the crisis for their own profit, and hope such strategies are aban- doned in favour of solidarity. iCabbi wel- comes collaboration with all stakeholders in the taxi industry on initiatives to sup-
port the sector.” Walsh was forth- coming in com- mending the efforts of taxi companies during this challeng- ing time, com- menting: ”It’s heart- ening to see taxi companies going over and beyond to support their com- munities. Taxi has always been about the local - and we’ve seen drivers operat- ing on the frontline time and time again. Unsurprisingly, fleets have stepped up to help transport food, medicine, healthcare workers and support other essential ser- vices. I’m proud of our customers and other fleets.”
