AMBER CARS ACQUIRES PREMIER CARS, LEEDS VEEZU ACQUIRES GO CARZ, SHREWSBURY

Leeds’ largest taxi and private hire vehi- cle operator, Amber Cars, has acquired Premier Cars Leeds to strengthen its offering across West Yorkshire. The acquisition will see Amber Cars op- erate an additional 300 licensed vehi- cles across Leeds. Operating under the existing Amber Cars brand, resi- dents and bus- inesses in the area will benefit from increased

Amber Cars Manag- ing Director, said: “The

team has

worked incredibly hard over the last few months on this latest

acquisition

and we are very pleased to be wel- coming Premier Cars to the Amber Cars team. “Due to a winning combination of our booking app, ad- vanced digital infr- astructure and pro- fessional

driver-

partners, passengers will benefit from a high quality and con- venient service, 24 hours a day, seven

Considering recent events, Amber Cars has now expanded its service to help local communities during social dis- tancing, as well as vulnerable individu- als who may be self-isolating. This includes the intro-

duction of super- market deliveries in the form of a ‘you click, we collect’ ser- vice, as well as the transportation of key workers, medical supplies and pre- scriptions. Amber Cars is own- ed by transportation technology innova- tors Veezu, based in Newport. Veezu has four other major ser- vice hubs in the UK, each

APPLE TAXIS AND Z-CARS MERGE IN BATTLE AGAINST APP RIVAL OLA

As part of a bid to fight off ride sharing app Ola, two estab- lished Exeter taxi firms are merging in the biggest cab shake-up in years. According

to

Devonlive Apple Taxis,

biggest taxi firm, and Z-Cars,

the city’s the

city’s oldest, say the Indian business has thrown every re- source at the city since launching in November 2018. The super-group of firms also cite rival Exe Cars, and a sug- gested takeover bid, as being part of the competitive atmo- sphere which has created the land- mark decision. In a statement pub- lished

on its APRIL 2020

Facebook page, the firm said: “We are delighted to an- nounce that Apple Taxis has joined forces with Z-Cars in South Street,

to

form one company. “This is great news for all staff and drivers for both firms as it will pro- vide job security and huge potential for growth, in what is a very competitive market. “In recent months, both firms have had to fight off an Indian app-booking com- pany who have thrown everything at the city and in the near future Exe Cars will be taken over by a Plymouth taxi company. “Initially, Z-Cars will

stay as it is whilst we set about merging the two together and we will keep everyone updated on our progress, however we are delighted to be join- ing our two cus- tomer bases togeth- er. “This will mean that we are now able to offer a quick and efficient

service

from all parts of the city: Exeter Interna- tional

Airport,

Exeter St. Davids Railway Station and the city centre - the three key elements of the city.” The firms have offices in South Street

and St

David’s railway sta- tion, with plans in to take on a larger site

under established local brands – A2B Radio Cars in the West Midlands, V Cars in the South West, Dragon Taxis in South Wales and Go Carz in Shrop- shire. Go Carz, the UK’s sixth biggest private hire operator was also

acquired by Veezu Nathan

on South Street. Exeter has been referred to as a strong environment to launch ride-shar- ing apps and taxi services, with its large student popu- lation playing its part alongside a vibrant

economy

which encourages paid workers to catch a cab. Ola launched in India in 2010 and was developed by ANI Technologies Pvt. Ltd. The business has a lion share of the market in India and was said to be worth around $3 billion in 2017. It has seen success- es in British cities not already domi- nated by rival Uber.

recently Bowles,

Veezu CEO said: “I’m delighted to wel- come everyone at Go Carz to Veezu. Go Carz is an extremely well man- aged and estab- lished business that complements our existing private hire brands. I look for- ward to working with Carl Wilday, Graham Hoof and Robin Gibson who will be helping us realise the Go Carz regional

growth

plan.” Go Carz completes more than 5 million journeys a year and will be a significant boost to the 13 mil- lion bookings com- pleted by Veezu in 2019. Carl Wilday, Manag- ing Director of Go

Carz, said: “It’s very much business as usual. The Go Carz brand will be stay- ing, and we will continue to be based out of our existing head office

in

Shrewsbury and our regional

offices

around Shropshire and the West Mid- lands. Being part of Veezu brings us access to additional resource and exper- tise, as well as the next generation of technology innova- tion that will benefit both the driver part- ners

sengers of Go Carz.” The

and pas- acquisition

marks Veezu’s third acquisition in 2020, following Cwmbran Cars and Chauffeur Cars in January this year. This latest deal sees Veezu now operat- ing with more than 6,000 driver part- ners, making it significantly
