Conference host and Lancashire Business View chairman Richard Slater invited delegates to share what had stood out most from the event. Here is a selection of thoughts and reflections from the room:


We’re all doing really great things


to move towards Net Zero, but we need to be educating the next generation to bring them to it as well


It doesn’t matter about the political landscape and the change of priorities,


businesses are committed to ESG because it’s the right thing to do, and we’re all on the same path


We need to shift our mindset away from


just the headline costs and focus on the opportunities that come from investing – for your own business, your employees, and your clients


We learned about the cost of not doing


anything and that low carbon is actually good for business


There’s a real appetite for green skills and


the need to move to net zero carbon efficiency. We’re going to build on collaborations


We need a better understanding of the


relationship between key skills and required skills and right now we probably don’t know enough about that


The support for Net Zero ambitions in Lancashire is strong. We should not get


distracted by what’s happening nationally Just stop, focus on your own business


and keep going. Become an advocate and transcend the culture wars


We need more partnerships and


collaboration because ultimately every job is a green job
