6 New entry Chain Link Holding, Clitheroe
Chain Link is the holding company of skip hire and building contractor JA Jackson and Hargreaves Tarnacre. It owns quarries in Preston, Leyland and Lancaster and supplies building materials, aggregates and ready-mix concrete to sectors such as civil engineering and construction. Turnover is £16.4m and it employs 48 people.
3 2024: 1 Tangerine Group, Lytham St Annes
Last year’s Hot 100 table-topper, Tangerine manufactures a variety of nutritional supplements for farm, equine and companion animals under brands including Agri-Loyd, FarmSense and VetPlus. The business was established by current chairman David Haythornthwaite, whose parents worked in farming, in 1991. It now has exclusive partners or subsidiaries in 42 countries, with a particularly strong presence in Europe, Asia and North America. The group also includes Mill Farm Sports Village a multi-purpose leisure complex, home to AFC Fylde football club.
2 New entry The Travellers Choice, Morecambe
The family business was founded back in 1872 by Robert Shaw in the village of Silverdale. Today the company operates from a purpose-built coach and travel centre. With more than 100 vehicles it provides a wide selection of services, ranging from daily excursions to short breaks and UK and continental tours. It also offers educational visits, corporate travel and tailor-made tours for group travel. Group turnover was £25.7m, while pre-tax profit was £8.2m.
5 2024: 46 Heathside Trading, Blackburn
Founded in 2006 by John Nelson and Robert Myers, Heathside is a privately owned developer and manufacturer of licenced consumer products. Heathside buys and sells branded merchandise, including toys, housewares and pop culture collectables, serving the discount retail trade. Products are sourced from around the world, with around one-third sold to overseas customers. Total revenues rose to £28.53m.
4 2024: 7 Holgates Holiday Parks, Carnforth
Founded in 1956 with a single plot of land, Holgates now owns and operates caravan and holiday parks across Lancashire, including the Ribble Valley and Cumbria. Its collection of parks, headed by the flagship park in Silverdale, are found across north Lancashire, south Cumbria and the Ribble Valley. Primarily offering holiday homes available for private ownership, it also has holiday options including hire holiday homes and pod breaks whilst also welcoming traditional park stays such as touring caravans, motorhome and tents.
1 New entry GFGB Holdings, Mitton
GFGB Holdings is a family-owned holding company with interests spanning dairy farming, mixed agriculture, land and rural investments. Based in the Ribble Valley, its operations are rooted in traditional farming values while embracing modern efficiencies. Milk and livestock sales underpin the business, which also extends to farming interests in Northumberland and joint ventures in Hungary. Turnover reached £13.95m while the profit before tax was £10.2m.
