C-TEC, founded more than 40 years ago, designs and manufactures a wide range of security equipment including commercial and domestic fire alarms, nursecalls and disabled refuge systems. Its products are exported to more than 70 countries around the world. The company, has made significant investment in a state-of-the-art research facility in order to continue investing in new products and manufacturing techniques.


Tom Parker, Preston


A leading national distributor of fluid power products, with more than 50 years of experience providing innovative connection solutions to pneumatic, hydraulic, industrial and process markets. Tom Parker buys, assembles and sells a range of more than 36,000 products. Family-owned, the business operates from sites in Preston and Basingstoke, including a testing facility.

Nutrition Group specialises in manufacturing tablets, capsules and protein bars for the health supplements market. The business produces three billion tablets and 500 million capsules a year. Its £3m state-of-the-art protein bar production line, opened in 2019, has the capacity to make 50 million energy bars a year. Established in 1993, the family business employs more than 120.

Colleagues Chris Richardson and Alan Looker founded their slurry handling equipment company in 1999 after their previous employer went into administration. The business began with a single van and a garden shed as a workshop and today operates three factories and employs a workforce of 64. The company designs and manufactures 60 products including scrapers, pumps, storage solutions, mixers and various methods of application which are sold across the UK and exported to countries including Canada and New Zealand.


Fylde Coast Accident & Repair Centre, Blackpool


Fylde Coast ARC was established in 1982 by managing director David Hyland and deals with all car and light commercial accident and insurance repair work. The business has grown from having one apprentice to around 54 employees servicing some of the largest insurance companies in the UK. The year concluded with turnover of £7.4m, a growth of 10.8 per cent, with the volume of repairs rising by seven per cent.
