FUTURE LEADERS HIT THE BULLSEYE

Businesses stepped up to the oche for an evening of darts, networking and fundraising at the Impact Conferencing Centre in Burnley.

Teams of two went head-to-head in the renowned 301 darts ‘Flight Night’ competition, all in support of The Participation Works, a not-for-profit grassroots organisation serving the young people and communities of east Lancashire since 2004, and Pendleside Hospice.

A total of £3,500 was raised on the night, with a team from Veka emerging triumphant.

The event, sponsored by Financial Affairs, Seriun and Veka and supported by Cockers Sports and Haffners Eats, was organised by participants of the Future Leaders programme, a 12-month initiative designed to challenge and develop young professionals working in Burnley.

The programme fosters personal and professional growth through monthly sessions,

away days, social value projects, and one-on- one coaching in a supportive environment.

As part of their passion project, Future Leaders participants Luke Watmough, Financial Affairs, Matt Roe, Impact Conferencing, Nathan Linklater, Veka, Olivia McCaughran, Lancashire Business View, Pete Lawson , +24, and Tristan Allen, Low Carbon Energy Company embraced the growing darts trend to bring businesses together.

Olivia McCaughran, client engagement manager at Lancashire Business View, said: “As this year’s future leaders programme is close to the end, it was great to be able to put what we had learnt as a team to create a successful event, whilst raising money for two incredible charities.”

The event also received support from local businesses including: Cherry Tree Bakery, Peter Scott Printers, SDL Trophy, The Royal Dyche and West Riding Hyundai.

A LIFE CHANGING MOMENT Lancashire Business View events

Business transformation coach Andi Lewis shared how a near death experience has changed her approach to life at the May Marketing Meetup.

The event in Lancaster heard how she suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this year and was brought back to life by her son who performed CPR on her.

Andi told delegates about how the episode changed her perspective on everything, including how to approach business and life.

Mike Walker, from StopPress, who organised the event, said: “Networking shouldn’t be about who you know or how many LinkedIn connections you can rack up.

“It should be about real stories that inspire and practical stuff that helps.

“The Marketing Meetup is blending speakers who’ve lived through something meaningful with actionable marketing insights.”

Lancashire Business View is a partner with the Marketing Meetup, which is building momentum across the county.

July’s meeting was taking place in Chorley, with the co-founder of StopPress Ben Whitaker talking about practical uses of AI.
