FIRM FAMILY FAVOURITES


Family businesses sit at the very heart of Lancashire’s economy and are famed for their resilience, drive and innovation.


The businesses and the individuals who work in them continually rise to the numerous challenges they face in uncertain times and emerge ever stronger.


Nationally almost 16 million people are employed by family businesses across the UK and they add £985m to the nation’s GDP.


To recognise their importance to Lancashire


nominations we have chosen, with the aid of a specially invited panel, a selection we consider to be Lancashire’s top family businesses in 2025.


Our judges looked for businesses that showed family values, including longevity, resilience, the work they do in their community and high levels of success in their sector.


We publish them here, in alphabetical order, to celebrate their efforts and the contribution they are making to Lancashire’s economy and their communities.


With the help of our readers we wanted to pay our tribute and show our appreciation for the efforts of those businesses in driving forward our economy


we have put together this list of some of the county’s top family businesses after asking our readers to help us identify them.


We asked you to share with us the businesses you think deserve to be recognised for their work and their achievements.


We were looking for businesses that lead in their sector, represent the best of family values and have vision. We wanted to hear about ‘the best in class’.

ADHAN GROUP


The Adhan Group is owned and operated by Blackburn brothers Salim Patel and Mushtaq Khanjra. It is a leading company for UK commercial sales and industrial lettings. The successful business has The Mall in Blackburn and Preston’s St George’s Shopping Centre within its portfolio. It recently bought the former Graham and Brown India Mill site in the town and has let it to leading tissue manufacturer Euro Paper which is set to bring 150 jobs to the area.
