Action – What Happens?
In this scene, the Prince of Morocco arrives at Belmont to try to win Portia’s hand in marriage. He asks her not to judge him by the colour of his skin and states that he would do anything to win her hand in marriage. Portia reminds him that she is bound by her dead father’s wishes and that he must take his chance like the other suitors. She warns him that if he decides to take part in the lottery, he must never propose marriage to anyone else in the future. The Prince of Morocco is willing to take the risk.
