EXAMINING THE PLAY Looking at Character Development
Think about how and why the characters develop as they do in the play. Use the Character File in your portfolio to reflect on the characters and to form a response to them.
Character Checklist Think about: • What the character does or how he/she behaves in each key scene. • The adjectives that you would use to describe the character. • Something that stands out to you in a key scene. • How the character reacts to situations. • A significant change in the character.
• Your personal response to the character − reflecting on something that confuses or surprises you about the character.
• How the character interacts with other characters – his/her relationships, both positive and negative.
