When light falls on a shiny or pale surface it is reflected back.
Application in the home

When light falls on an uneven or dull surface it is scattered or dispersed in many directions. This can also occur when light passes through a translucent substance.
Absorbed
When light shines on matt surfaces and dark colours it is absorbed.

When light rays shine through a thick layer of glass they bend.
