Dining furniture consists of a large table and chairs made from wood, glass, plastic or metal. Some chairs may be upholstered.
Factors to consider when choosing dining furniture Ensure that: • it is sturdy, strong and suitable for everyday use • it has enough chairs and table space to accommodate all the family • the table surface and chairs are easy to clean and stain-resistant • the seating provides good back support and is comfortable to sit on.
Bedroom furniture
A bed may be single, double, king size or super king size. Sofa beds and bunk beds are also available. Beds consist of two parts: a divan/base and a mattress. Some may have a headboard.
Types of divans/bases Spring-edge
• Springs go all the way to the edge of the divan/base and are covered with a layer of fabric
• Comfortable to sleep on as the springs offer extra support • Can be expensive
Solid-top
• Solid wood top with no springs. This provides a firmer, orthopaedic feel to the bed.

Foam Memory foam
• Composed of individual springs, continuous (interlocking) springs or pocket springs
• Pocket-spring mattresses offer the best support and resilience, but are more expensive
• Made from latex or polyether foam in various thicknesses
• Moulds itself to the shape of the body and offers excellent back support
• Can be expensive
