Seaon 2107 LAST DAY OF THE

by Rebecca Drake

The last Sunday of the season started with the Ham Polo Club dog show, second in prestige only to Crufts, with judges being our stable manager Juan Cruz Araya Martelli and polo manager Will Healy. It was very appropriate to hold a dog show given how dog friendly the club is, and how many members and spectators bring their dogs down on Sundays. Bianca Stefan was the only person who turned up on time, and was initially told that her Cockapoo Max had won all the classes by default. She was a bit disappointed when everyone else turned up and she realised she and Max would have to earn their prizes!

The first prize to be won was for Best Large Dog, which Maeve Morrison won with her dog Buddy, and Best Small Dog, which was won by Bianca Stefan with her lovely cockapoo Max.

The dog most like its owner was won by Becca Drake with her Westie Tiggy who had matching shooting jackets on, although there was some strong competition not least from Rachel Davis and her Cavalier Florian who had both dressed up as Cavaliers with matching feathered hats.

The chairman elect, Howard Davis, also won a prize with his miniature schnauzer, Pepper. However, the two people who won the most rosettes of the day, were Beni and Bella Teroerde, whose angelic looks won them four rosettes despite not having their own dogs! They did however borrow Garrie Renucci’s dogs Bala and Hugo and Club Secretary Sarah’s gorgeous puppy Joy.
