When the game was first released, a lot of suppliers were developing similar style games and Money Train immediately stood out from the crowd, which certainly gave it a welcome boost. We put a lot of the game’s long-term success down to its incredibly engaging mechanics and feature combinations. With so many combinations to hit a max win, most players experience their own story within the game.


sequel's development. We found that these players were quite open and honest about what they liked and didn’t, so we used that feedback as the starting point. With any sequel, there’s a fine line between staying true to the original and creating something entirely new.


Personally, I would say the former is always harder to achieve.


In the case of Money Train 3, we realised that most players weren’t keen on the Payer feature, so we decided to set her up with some bigger values to payout, altering the mechanic slightly to target one symbol rather than spread across of all of them. Tis meant that the Payer was no longer dependent on the rest of the board for players to experience her value.


Did Money Train 2 match or exceed the success of its predecessor?


I would say that Money Train 2 completely exceeded expectations, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t think it could have been improved! Tis is probably the main motivation behind the production of Money Train 3.


Why opt for sequels rather than iterations?


In this case, the core mechanic is always developing, so it makes sense to have the narrative evolve alongside it. We’ve used some features in other games like Dead Man’s Trail and Chip Spin, however, reskinning is never an option in our book.


Relax is now launching the third game in the series. How have you approached the challenge of designing Money Train 3? What have you learnt from the first two instalments?


We've always had a clear vision for the Money Train series. Tis sense of clarity paired with our industry experience gave us the confidence to produce a sequel that was both familiar and new.


I think some of the most obvious improvements we’ve made in Money Train 3 are found within the feature list. We have a new mid-tier set of features with the Tommy Gun Sniper, Tommy Gun Payer and Absorber along with 5 Persistent Features. We know how much our players love chasing the max win, so we also upped the
