Using modelling software, sculpting software, and an in-depth review process, these artists are able to create replicas of the 2D concept art designs within the 3D space. Tese artists create high resolution, extremely detailed 3D models.

Te next artist to take the task is the texture artist, who will apply the colours and materials that takes the artwork from solid grey to the rich, realistic result. Skin is given its tones and sub-surface scattering is given to create the realistic feel of skin. Golds are given their hue, and their shine. Tiny texture details are added to fabrics, rocks, metals and other surfaces.
Several steps can happen to an asset after this point, depending on whether it is a character or a symbol or a background. In the case of
characters, an artist known as a rigger will apply bones and deformations to allow the character to be posed and moved to the director’s whim. Tese files will then be provided to an animator who will play a key role in breathing life into the character, moving their body in ways that establish identity and emphasis wins and in- game events.
Once animating is done, in cases that it is needed, the materials are handed off to a Lighting artist. Tis artist creates the final “look” of the 3D assets by applying lighting and adjustments to bring the object/character/world to its final result.
It is at this point that these materials are moved to the most important stage of artistic development for any game. Tis phase is called the Game Production phase. During this phase, the artists involved will make rich, detailed feature examples that outline every event in the game.
Winning combination examples, in-game event examples, double up examples—if the element is in the game, we will prepare a detailed animation for it. Tis allows Betsoft’s artists to think through each part of the game’s interactivity with the player, enriching the presentation with creative sparkles, explosions and other animations that underline and emphasis the game play experience for the player. Tese artists are responsible for crafting
the near-miss experiences and the transitions between game events.
Only after this process, which takes an average of 6 design months for a Slots3 product, is the art ready to be provided to Betsoft’s development staff. All Betsoft games are developed on their Shift platform, a rich HTML5 cross platform game engine. Shift allows us to use the brain power of the development and art teams to leverage the tools available to produce games with a small form factor, without removing quality.
From here, a typical path is taken to release; the game is developed on the Shift™ platform, translated into over 15 languages, and quality assurance is performed by not only the Game Designers, but an additional two separate testing teams.
