In 2015 the US Department of the Interior approved the application for land in trust for a 151 acre site and in April 2016 the tribe broke ground on the First Light Casino and Resort. However just a few months later the US District Court ruled that the department did not have the authority to approve the tribe’s application for land in trust. Te decision over what happens is at the moment in limbo.

Construction has begun and the venue is due to open in June 2019 and is a $2.1bn five star resort with more than 600 hotel rooms, high end spa, retail, dining, ballroom and meeting space. Te casino will hold 2,574 slots, 141 table games and 91 poker tables.
It is located on 33 acres on the Mystic River with easy access to the waterfront and harbour. It will generate around 4,000 permanent jobs and 4,000 construction jobs and bring around $260m into the state in annual taxes.
Te Wynn Boston Harbor project is the largest private single phase construction project in the state to date.
Te company privately funded a $30m clean up project of the former Monsanto plant site which is the area being redeveloped into a six acre park with bike paths and events lawn.
Meanwhile the final region C (Southern Massachusetts) is for a project with the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe for a Tribal Gaming casino in Taunton which is one of the oldest towns in the US
Te Gaming Act permitted the possibility to approve a ‘compact’ with one or more Indian tribes for the right to operate a casino in this region and back in 2012 an agreement was signed with the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.
