Review G2E LAS VEGAS 2017
10 years since Quixant first exhibited at the G2E show in Las Vegas, it’s been a remarkable journey from the company displaying products on a pop-up booth on the periphery of the exhibition, to the huge presence and dynamic role at the very heart of G2E 2017 that represents Quixant today
Mindful of their focal presence on the world stage, Quixant displayed its widest spectrum of products ever at the show, both in gaming platforms and monitors, while also demonstrating its commitment to innovation through its Gaming Ecosystem. Quixant dedicated a large area of the booth to reveal all aspects of its Gaming Ecosystem by showcasing several API and software solutions provided to customers. Visitors were also treated to live demonstrations of Quixant’s SAS stack as well as the new QxVDR video decoding and rendering tool, alongside Quixant’s new system monitoring and tracing tool.
Headlining the product reveals on the booth was undoubtedly the launch a of new platform at the show, the QX-60, which has an incredible feature list, including the latest AMD Embedded R-Series SoC processor. Offering exceptional graphics performance, QX-60 provides OS support for Windows Embedded 7, 8 and 10, as well as Linux. Alongside the QX-60, Quixant’s powerful QXi-400 and the burgeoning range of gaming specific monitors generated the most traffic and attention on the Quixant booth at the exhibition, as confirmed by Quixant’s COO, Jon Jayal. “Te QX-60 platform was a huge hit for us at G2E, enabling developers to maintain Windows 7 OS support whilst increasing the performance available to drive the games,” described Mr. Jayal at G2E. “Many developers continue to wrestle with the challenges of adopting Windows 10, which makes QX-60 - with all the hardware to support it - the ideal solution.”
Probably the biggest theme of the show, as evidenced on the stands of the major gaming developers, was graphical performance. 4K resolution games are rapidly becoming the new benchmark for the gaming industry, which means that developers are now asking much, much more from their embedded gaming boards. Quixant’s demo lineup confirmed this trend with a range of platforms that are designed to power machines in a variety of different markets. Te powerful QMax-1 and QX-60 platforms are well-suited to driving the latest 4K games on high-end machines whilst the QXi-6000, QXi-400 and QXi-300 blend high performance with fanless design for mainstream machines. Finally, the QXi-307 harnesses Quixant’s benefits at an exceptionally cost-effective price point.
