Review G2E LAS VEGAS 2017
Engaging technology thrilled on the IGT
booth at G2E 2017 Pin-sharp 4K displays, LCD button decks, 4D and 3D games with Haptic Touch and immersive gameplay features, IGT’s booth had it all in Vegas, oh, and software to track your eyes...!
IGT’s Premium content historically represents an area for the company to demonstrate innovation and this year’s G2E show was no exception. Te CrystalCurve ULTRA cabinet featuring the all-new Sex and the City Video Slots game, now includes PowerSight technology, which enables a player to stare at on-screen objects to unlock them in pick bonuses and other player-selectable components of gameplay.
Te technology works by scanning the player’s eyes for a brief few seconds before the game commences. Right now, for this first game, Powersight only kicks into action during the bonus round, whereby bottles of champagne appear with bubbles erupting from them. Te aim is to pop as many bubbles as possible during the bonus by looking directly at each bubble. Our very quick run-through at the show displayed a real precision to the interaction between the onscreen action and eye- movement. Just as with the launch of Haptic-touch at last year’s show, the use of Powersight is just being explored by IGT right now, but the possibilities of this technology within gaming are really exciting.
Speaking of 4D, IGT went to town with its 4D slots at G2E, unveiling Wheel of Fortune 4D that utilises TRUE 4D, gesture recognition and mid- air haptic technologies. It’s as close to experiencing the live TV show as possible without actually becoming a contestant on the programme, offering players glasses-free 3D gaming entertainment and the ability to engage with the game’s 3D graphics like never before. Gesture recognition technology enables players to interact with and manipulate the game's 3D objects, and mid-air haptic technology allows players to experience tactile feedback from the game’s graphics.
“G2E 2017 is the world debut for IGT's Wheel of Fortune 4D game on the CrystalCurve TRUE 4D cabinet,” said Dallas Orchard, IGT Chief Product Officer, Gaming. “Te game combines the player-favorite Wheel of Fortune theme with unprecedented technology and cutting-edge hardware to create a truly unique player experience. Many of our customers are anticipating the market arrival of IGT’s SPHINX 4D game, which makes it even more exciting to announce additional TRUE 4D titles that they can leverage to differentiate their casino floors,
