AMD doubles down on the power with new Radeon E9170 Series
AMD continued its graphics momentum at G2E Vegas with the unveiling of its embedded RADEON E9170 Series GPU
Tis new embedded solution offers high- performance or low-power applications, fitting in-between AMD’s existing E8860 (800 GFLOPs and 2GB memory) and the E8870 (1536 GFLOPs and 4GB of memory). Te E9170 offers 1248 GFLOPs with 4GB of memory, which delivers eight compute units, drives up to five displays (4K HEVC decode and encode support), from as little as 35W of total board power. In fact, the E9170 Series GPU delivers up to three times the performance-per-watt when compared to the prior generation, with an MCM design that enables more low-power embedded devices.
“With the RADEON E9170 Series, AMD is responding to market demand for greater graphical content and 4K resolution displays,” stated AMD’s Stephen Turnbull at G2E. Te product we are introducing is focused on functionality and display support at a reasonable power and price level that AMD is supporting through planned availability until 2024. Te E9170 card is ideal for a range of markets and is part of a range of products that scale across the envelope, having enough memory bandwidth to support all current demands. Tis latest Polaris product is about ensuring that graphics performance is strong, processing is very strong and as we prepare to bring Zen/Ryzen into the gaming space, we will push performance even higher. Supplying these applications is a performance statement from AMD.”
Te latest RADEON E9170 Series covers a broad and diverse set of applications, from digital casino games, thin client solutions, medical imaging, digital signage and into the realm of military and aerospace requirements. Specifically for gaming, the new GPU reduces energy consumption and operating costs for both entry level and mid-range systems. Furthermore, it is ideal for video lottery terminals which operate under strict cost and energy requirements.
The Cammegh team at G2E 2017 Cammegh: finest stakes on the Vegas Strip
Te Strip casinos in Las Vegas have become the ultimate showroom for Cammegh, makers of the world’s finest roulette wheels. Having installed wheels with the most prestigious properties across the city, from the Aria to MGM, the Palazzo to the Bellagio and Venetian, the G2E show 2017 proved to be the UK- based family business’ most successful North American trade show ever
“Tis year’s event has been a fabulous experience for the Cammegh team,” stated Andrew Cammegh at G2E. “Operator confidence in our product has never been higher and has proved the bedrock for the latest products we’ve brought to the 2017 show. Having our products on the floors of the major Strip Casinos brings instant recognition of the brand, credibility to the product range and massive interest in the latest innovations we are showing at G2E.
In fact, the Triple Zero wheel is already proving to be a must-see and must-play attraction at the Venetian and the response from visitors has ensured that it has quickly become a hugely positive addition to the casino floor.”
While product on the casino floor was performing exceptionally well, the standout on the floor of the G2E show was undoubtedly Cammegh’s Spread-Bet Blackjack product, which was displayed on the booth working with both the ANGEL EYE and BEE-TEK electronic shoes, and incorporates the stunning Billboard Display System. Spread-Bet Blackjack is a licensed side bet for the industry’s most widely played card game.
Working seamlessly alongside the traditional game, Spread-Bet Blackjack gives each player three new betting spots, which allow wagers to be placed on the sum of their first two cards. Each betting spot denotes a number range (e.g. 6-9) and players are paid if the sum of their first two cards lies within the range on which they have bet. By adding the chance to win on a low value hand, Spread-Bet Blackjack adds
an exciting twist to the game at an increased house edge. “Spread-Bet is a side game that has resonated with both customers and their players,” described Andrew Cammegh. “We have seen Spread-Bet Roulette integrated into casino table games at the international level, and having worked closely with Novomatic to install this innovative game onto their NOVO Unity II terminals, we’ve made the amazing game of roulette even more exciting and given a reboot to the EGT sector at the same time.
“We anticipate that Spread-Bet Blackjack will have the same impact on this world renowned card game and in combination with our Billboard Displays, have a product that will excite, entertain and deliver the rewards and results players and operators demand from Cammegh products.”
It was the breadth and depth of the Cammegh portfolio in Las Vegas that most impressed. Te company’s roulette-centric approach to its gaming offer has grown to include a blackjack product that is as rightly deserving of its ‘finest’ label as the company’s superlative wheels. And while the latest sidebet expands the portfolio in exciting new directions, it is linked to Cammegh’s core Billboard Display, which continues to offer outstanding graphics, a crystal clear screen and the comforting assurance of Cammegh’s diligent in-house customer service team. All this assures customers that they’re in safe hands and has led to what Mr. Cammegh says will be a landmark deal for the company’s Billboard Displays in the US, which will be announced shortly.
