Insight TALLINN, ESTONIA ECA Dealer Championship 2019

during the 2019 competition. “It’s great to be involved in supporting live gaming in Europe in this way, which enables the end users - the dealers - to work with our products in a high intensity competition, such as the ECA Dealer Championship.”

Speaking to one of the organsing committee members, Murat Salih, Floor Manager, Te Hippodrome Casino London, he described his appreciation of the dedication and committment shown by everyone involved in the event.

“Tis championship is going from strength to strength. More competitors and more casinos are involved in this event than ever before and we have more countries seeking to host the event, and we even have more spectators too,” stated Mr. Salih. “It is a celebration of the skills and achievements of the dealer talent within this industry. As part of the organising committee it is demanding hard work, but also incredibly fun and a privilege to work with the professionals organising this event. We have the largest list of sponsors at this year’s event - 12 in total - and have more looking to get involved in the 2020 event to be held in Monte-Carlo.”

Te declared host of next year’s event, Pascal Camia, Gaming Managing Director of Monte-Carlo Society des Bains de Mer and Director of Casinos de Monte- Carlo, gave his thoughts on both the national events leading up to the championship, and the event in Estonia.

“Ahead of the European Championship in Tallinn, this year we organised a national event in Monaco with seven dealers from our casinos competing to represent Monaco in the European final. SBM joined the ECA only two years ago and believe that it is very

important for our dealers and managers to compare their skills and abilities with their peers from across Europe,” described Mr. Camia. “Not only do we compare ourselves with the best-of-the-best, but travelling to Montenegro last year, and this year to the Olympic Park Hotel and Casino in Tallinn, the Monaco team gains a greater perspective and understanding of the European casino industry. I think it is very important to relate those experiences to the service and offering we present to our guests in Monaco.”

THE BEST DEAL POSSIBLE Te dealers were in for a surprise at the ECA Dealer

Championship in Tallinn, as each of the card tables used during the competition had been outfitted with sponsor Scientific Games’ latest continuous shuffler, the ShuffleStar. Able to shuffle 4-8 decks, the low profile front-loading shuffler features a high-speed flat-dealing shoe and sophisticated card recognition using two cameras. Te ShuffleStar is able to sit incredibly low to the table due to a cutout that allows the drum to fit out-of-sight beneath the table.

“Te form factor of the ShuffleStar returns table real estate to the operator and dealer,” explained Scientific’s Stuart German at the Dealer Championship. “While the scanning of the cards both in and out of the shuffler enables the unit to reconcile its inventory at any time, with the ShuffleStar intelligently recognising any missing cards and the order of cards dealt from the shoe.”

Te cutout means that the dealers were unable to angle the ShuffleStar on the table, but the 150 degree angle of the shoe gives the flexibility to pull cards in every direction to suit all dealer preferences. In such a highly charged competitive environment, none of the dealers expressed concerns about the new shufflers
