He also stated that celebrities and influencers who promote gambling on illegal platforms had been notified by the courts for "promoting and attracting gamblers through advertising carried out on social media and other media."
In April 2025 the Buenos Aires City Lottery (LOTBA) filed complaints against more than 100 influencers. LOTBA president Jesús Acevedo said that celebrities using social media to promote gambling was especially dangerous for minors.
“We have reported influencers who promote these sites, even on children's programmes. It's a battle against the misuse of technology,” Acevedo said. In July 2025 in a highly innovative approach the Attorney General of the City, Juan Bautista Mahiques offered sixteen influencers the chance to film a public awareness video as part of a settlement agreement for their role in promoting illegal online gambling on their social media platforms.
Te influencers agreed with the justice system to lend their images to raise awareness about the dangers of illegal online betting. To date around 30 influencers have signed an agreement that entails filming a video in which they use their image to warn about the dangers of illegal betting.

So, just as they promoted illegal betting sites on their social media, leveraging their public image and influence, it was fitting that the symbolic repair also be conducted through that same medium, but this time to raise awareness about the risks associated with illegal betting,” he said.
