BALLY’S BRONX


THE PROPOSAL A $4bn plan by Bally’s to transform part of a golf course into NYC’s first casino resort. It will occupy around 19 acres of the golf club site near the Whitestone Bridge featuring a three- million-square-foot complex with 500,000 sq ft of gaming (about 3,500 slot machines and 250 table games).


Plans include a 500-room hotel (all suites), though final room count may evolve. Also proposed are an event centre (2,000- seat theatre), expansive meeting space, a 4,600-space parking facility, and numerous dining and entertainment venues celebrating local Bronx culture.

Bally’s has pledged a $625m community benefits package for infrastructure, parks, transit, and education, and estimates 15,000 construction jobs and 4,000 permanent jobs.


US President Donald Trump’s family business has some involvement as they sold Bally’s the land for the project with some believing they will receive a US$115m payout if the project sees the light of day. MGM Yonkers, considered a frontrunner for one of New York’s three licences, unexpectedly pulled its bid for a commercial licence in October.
