INSIGHT EXPLORING CASINO DISPLAY SCREEN TRENDS

Industrial Display Systems provide a wide range of reliable displays, including LCD displays, touch
screen panels, outdoor and digital signage displays, and a series of
industrial monitors including open frame monitors and panel mount monitors. G3 talks to Dave Giles about finding the balance of
performance and design to ensure solutions work perfectly with
embedded boards and systems to maximise display effectiveness.
Dave, we saw a lot of two monitor/three monitor and single (usually curved) screens at ICE. What’s the sweets-spot for monitors in terms of slots right now - from Multigames to Standalone variants? Both in terms of dimensions, but also bang-for-buck?
We have seen current trends favoring the more modular style setups with double or triple 27ins. and 32ins. monitors, moving away from single large curved displays, which tend to entail higher costs. Temost cost-effective choice for the market remains a 27ins. combination setup.
What are the essential display features? Dustproof and waterproof are givens - but what are the essential specs and which products in the Advantech IDS (Industrial Display Systems) range offer all the advantages?

A robust IK rating is critical for vandal-proofing and resilience so glass thickness is key. Standard 43ins. and 50ins. curved displays come with a sturdy 4mm glass thickness, as a ‘must’ and for full IK10 protection, we offer the option to upgrade to 6mm glass.
Is there still a trend to go bigger - or have we hit a plateau in terms of display sizes?
It does seem like the trend in display sizes for the gaming market as indeed reached a plateau. Around 55ins. seems to be the sweet spot. Mainly because gaming is a price-sensitive market, and going bigger than 55ins. becomes a costly affair. Beyond that, practical constraints come into play.
Cabinet sizes limit how large displays can get, as does floor space. Larger screens will obviously
take up more floor space meaning there would be less product available and lower ROI. So rather than going bigger, developers tend to look for ways to enhance the technology and sharper visuals of their offerings.
Is there a push towards even higher resolutions on displays? Is the majority HD or 4K now - and will we see 8K becoming a standard anytime soon?
Generally, displays with sizes of 32ins. and above tend to be 4K. However, there is currently no significant trend toward adopting 8K as a standard. As with most technological advancements, we often wait for content resolution to catch up before embracing higher resolutions
