Jade Casino installs Merkur Multigames
US - MGM puts Ohio and Springfield up for sale Bloomberg has reported that MGM Resorts is looking for suitors to buy its casinos in Ohio’s Northfield Park and in Springfield, Massachusetts. MGM has reportedly enlisted financial advisers to hold preliminary discussions which may not result in any sale.
MGM bought the Northfield Hard Rock racino in 2019 for $1bn, rebranding it to MGM Northfield Park. The horse track and rasino is located about 20 miles southeast of Cleveland. MGM won the licence to operate in Springfield after Massachusetts and opened MGM Springfield in 2018.
US - Aristocrat promotes Aristocrat has appointed Matthew (Matt) Primmer to the position of Chief Product Officer, reporting directly to Aristocrat CEO & Managing Director Trevor Croker. Matt joins
Aristocrat’s Executive Steering Committee, and remains based at the company’s offices in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Matt comes to the role with over 20 years’ experience in the global gaming industry, including 10 years at Aristocrat in a range of senior product strategy, insights and leadership roles in Australia and the US. Matt has been Chief Product Officer at Aristocrat Gaming for four years, leading Design & Development (D&D) in Aristocrat’s largest operating business, with casino game content and hardware comprising its most strategically important portfolios. Matt previously held marketing and sales roles at Ainsworth and Shuffle Master.
New Jersey - Revenues surge by 12 per cent The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement released its February financials for the Garden State with total gaming revenue covering casino, online gaming and sports betting, surging by 12 per cent to $461.5m in February 2024, from $412.2m in February last year.
Revenues have climbed by 20.2 per cent for the year so far, reaching $1.02bn. The State's casinos collectively beat the $196m they won from in-person gamblers in February 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, but only three of them won more in person this February than they did pre-pandemic.
Casino win came in at $211.6m, marking a 1.6 per cent drop from last year with the year so far reflecting a 2.4 per cent drop. Online gaming propped the casinos up, increasing by 27.9 per cent to $182.3m in February. Sports betting was up 23.7 per cent with casinos, racetracks, and their partners generating $67.6m for February 2024. The year so far has seen an 87.7 per cent increase in sports betting numbers.
