NAME Arwel Huws ROLE Account Manager EMEIA START DATE WITH GLI 2018

COUNTRY OF BIRTH

I live in Wales and despite leaving the country for a little while, I am pleased to be back and proud to call it my home.

COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE Spain LANGUAGES

I speak Welsh in the Bangor office and at home. Naturally English is spoken with all of my customers but my first language is Welsh.

REGIONAL RESPONSIBILTIES My clients tend to be English-

speaking, so they are mainly from the UK, Australia, and North America. I also work with clients in and around the Baltic region.

EXPERTISE/BACKGROUND

I would say that I’ve been exposed to many worldwide markets, such as UK Retail, European and North American iGaming and sports betting jurisdictions. Prior to working with GLI, I was also involved in international sales, which probably made me a good fit for this role and industry.

HOBBIES/INTERESTS

I am fortunate to live on the coast, so naturally I enjoy going on long

padel tennis. I’m just a beginner, but it’s something that allows me to spend great time with friends. I love cats, I have two at home and support organisations focused on helping abandoned cats.

WHY DID YOU JOIN GLI?

based in Europe, most of my customers are in the EMEIA region.

EXPERTISE/BACKGROUND

I worked for many years as a Business Controller and as a Marketing and Sales Manager in the Hospitality Industry in my home country. I have also lived in Barcelona, where I was studying to obtain a master’s degree in hospitality management, and also spent time in Italy with my husband before we moved to the Netherlands.

HOBBIES/INTERESTS

I love reading historical novels as well as crime fiction books. I enjoy travelling, and recently discovered myself to be interested in playing

I joined GLI because I needed to reconnect with the sales experience of a corporate environment. I enjoy helping to solve problems, and at the time I started at GLI, I needed to move out the crazy schedule in the hospitality industry but keeping the contact and supporting customers.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR ROLE?

Learning everyday in a business which constantly evolves and changes. All the players in this industry are so different and the needs so broad you don’t get bored.

WHAT RESPONSIBILITIES DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR ROLE?

As Account Manager I represent the leading iGaming testing laboratory. I am responsible for helping my customers to achieve their goals on

walks along the local beaches and mountains with my wife and dog. It would also be fair to say that I’m a football fanatic.

I regularly go to Liverpool to watch the Reds play and go down to Cardiff to watch the national team play. I also play for my local football club and work on the club’s committee.

WHY DID YOU JOIN GLI?

I wanted to continue working in sales and making connections across the world, and I wanted to learn more about gaming and compliance. Te initial six months were such a positive experience. I knew that GLI would be a long- term partnership for me.

WHAT RESPONSIBILITIES DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR ROLE?

I am the first point of contact for clients when they have general compliance queries, and when customers are looking to enter new markets.

I enjoy being the agent for both the

time and on budget, not as a salesperson, but as a partner in all regulated markets. I’m their go-to- person to listen to their needs, provide the support and build a strong and long-lasting relationship beyond the commercial purposes.

WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES?

EMEIA is a giant region with huge cultural differences. Tis multicultural environment is both exciting and challenging as you need to learn to communicate based on respect for the differences and take time zones in consideration to avoid delays that may harm client business plans.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT WORKING WITH CLIENTS?

Learning from different people with different backgrounds, the rewarding feeling when you know you helped solved something they needed and probably in a faster way than expected.
