June, 2021 hi-TeCh evenTS APEC 2021 Plenary Sessions Announced
CHICAGO, IL — APEC 2021 is scheduled to be held virtually from June 14 to 17, and promises a wide range of both practical and theoretical topics in the field of power electronics. APEC is partnering with
Social27, a virtual event platform, to host its 2021 conference. On- demand services will be offered beginning the week of June 9. The show organizers have prepared the daily schedule to make it as accessible as possible to the largest number of participants. The show offers a variety of
education opportunities, includ- ing plenary sessions, technical sessions, industry sessions, pro- fessional education seminars, exhibitor seminars, and RAP ses- sions.
According to the show man-
agement, most conference con- tent will be available on-demand, before, during and after the con- ference. Many of the sessions will be accompanied by sched- uled live Q&As that will take place during the week of the con- ference. An exception is the RAP program, which will be present- ed live and will not be recorded. While there are several con-
ferences scheduled, notable ones include “Auxiliary Automotive Drives Revolutionized by Power Electronics,” presented by Dr. - Ing Annette Muetze from Graz University of Technology, “Native American Energy Sovereignty: Energy Storage and Power Electronics Benefits,” presented by Dr. Stanley Atcitty of Sandia

Broad Tech Conference SAN DIEGO, CA — SPIE Optics + Photonics, scheduled to be held from August 1 to 5 in San Diego, California, has scheduled more than 2,000 papers, posters and presentations to be a part of its event this year. Fields include nanoscience and engineering, organic photonics and electronics and optical engineering and applications. The nanoscience segment
includes topics such as advances in metamaterials, nanophotonic materials, plasmonics, quantum materials and devices, optical
trapping, spintronics, and more. Under the banner of organic pho- tonics and electronics, the event will provide a comprehensive conference on organic materials and devices that advance renew- able energy sources and other commercial applications. The optical engineering and applica- tions field includes topics such as developments in optical design, optical alignment, testing, fabri- cation, astronomical optics and instrumentation,

National Laboratories, and “Quan tum Computing — the New Computing Paradigm,” presented by Dr. Heike Riel, IBM’s Europe and Africa head of quantum research. While the impact of power
electronics on transportation elec- trification has risen to the fore- ground on many fronts, the mil- lions of auxiliary drives used in automotive applications have con-
tinued proliferate. In her presen- tation, Muetze will discuss how these seemingly unnoticed small drives have been completely revo- lutionized by power electronics, where the beauty and power often emerge from rediscovering sim- plicity itself. Atcitty, a member of the
Navajo Tribe, will discuss the U.S. DOE’s energy storage program,
