Ironwood Intros Socket for Intel FBGAs

EAGAN, MN — Ironwood Electronics recently introduced a new BGA socket addressing high performance requirements for fine-line BGAs, the CBT-BGA- 6111. The contactor is a stamped spring pin with 19g actuation force per ball and cycle life of 125,000 insertions. The self inductance of the

contactor is 0.93 nH, insertion loss less than 1 dB at 4.15 GHz and contact resistance is less than 30 mW. The current capaci- ty of each contactor is 4A at +144°F (+80°C) temperature rise and the socket’s operating tem- perature range is –67 to +356°F (–55 to +180°C). The socket also features a

floating guide for precise ball-to- pin alignment. The specific config- uration of the package to be tested in the CBT-BGA6111 is a 1.1 x 1.1 in. (29 x 29 mm), 0.04 in. (1 mm) pitch, 780 position, 28 x 28 ball array. The socket is mounted using supplied hardware on the target PCB with no soldering, and uses a small footprint for nearby passive components. It uses a stiffener plate to

support the back side of the PCB and allows passive components to be placed via customized pockets. This socket utilizes a clamshell lid with an integrated compres- sion mechanism. The socket is

constructed with aluminum for heat dissipation and can be cus- tomized with a fan and heatsink for high power dissipation.

In use, the device is placed

inside the socket, the clamshell lid is closed by latching and downward pressure applied by turning the compression screw. This socket can be used for hand test and temperature cycling as well as debugging application in development and device charac-

terization. Contact: Ironwood

Malcom RCX Profiler with Video Camera and O2 Sensor

With finer pitch components and higher density PCB assemblies, even a few specks of dust can create multiple defects and issues. Ensure a clean board and process before paste printing with the Unitech UC-250M-CV board cleaner!
