5. Images in Advertising
Advertisements do not always use words to sell their products. Sometimes the illustration cleverly contains the appeal, creates the need and sells the product or service. You need to examine the visual for all its connotations if this is the case.
Guidelines for analysing an advertisement:
l First, ask yourself: What is being advertised? A product or a service? Who is it aimed at (the target audience)? Who is likely to buy the product? What are the benefits for the buyer, according to the ad? Where might this advertisement appear?
