Affordable and Accurate Minichiller Range

Many technical applications depend on a reliable cooling solution. Huber Minichillers are the ideal solution for environmentally friendly and economical cooling in laboratory and industry. There are several air- and water-cooled models available, with cooling powers from 0.28 to 0,9 kW. Effi cient energy management in all Huber chillers ensures low operating costs and a quick return on investment.

The compact Minichiller is designed as a space saving tower and with a footprint of just 225 x 360 mm the Huber Minichiller takes up less bench space than many laptops. With a temperature range from -25°C to +40°C and cooling capacity of up to 900 watts at 15°C, Minichillers are ideal for cooling reaction blocks, vapour traps, vacuum pump condensers, rotary evaporators or heat exchangers, supplying predictable and correct pressure, fl ow and temperature to applications resulting in tangible process effi ciencies. Because the Minichiller’s internal volume is only 2 litres, it eliminates the risk of fl ooding in the laboratory. This allows the process to be run unattended further increasing effi ciency.

The chillers are now available with the new OLÉ controller. The units combine state of the art technology with simple operation. OLÉ models are suitable for routine tasks in research and industry and are convincing as practice oriented basic equipment. They are equipped with USB and RS232 interfaces as standard and have a bright, large OLED display. A Pt100 sensor connection to display (not control) e.g. the process temperature is available as Option.

All Huber Chillers are designed for non-supervised permanent operation at ambient temperatures of up to +40°C. The models are equipped with a circulating and suction pump for best fl ow rates. More information online: ilmt.co/PL/PpqJ

Pipetting Solutions Streamline COVID-19 PCR Testing

A dedicated COVID-19 testing lab in California, Matrix Diagnostics, is relying on Integra Biosciences’ EVOLVE and MINI 96 pipettes to streamline and accelerate its PCR workfl ows. Founded in January 2021 to meet the growing demand for testing in the San Francisco Bay Area, Matrix Diagnostics is using these user-friendly and cost- effective solutions to test up to 5000 samples a day. Lab Manager Fady Ettnas explained: “We work with schools and workplaces to deliver regular PCR testing as a part of their gradual reopening after the pandemic. Our protocols involve a range of repetitive pipetting steps - including mixing reagents and serial dilutions - for thousands of samples a day, which has the potential to be a cumbersome and error-prone task. We therefore chose Integra’s EVOLVE manual pipettes and MINI 96 portable electronic pipettes to improve the reproducibility and productivity of our workfl ows.”

“We have a number of single channel EVOLVE pipettes covering volumes ranging from 0.2 to 5000 µl - as well as 8, 12, and 16 channel models - which are ergonomic and allow you to set volumes in a fl ash. The unique design of Integra’s GripTips also means that they never leak or fall off, avoiding cross-contamination and maintaining sterility. We also use the MINI 96 extensively, which is especially well suited to PCR set-up. It saves a lot of time and effort - around 15 minutes per cycle - for performing the wash steps. And because we run more than 25 cycles every day, this is a huge saving. As the demand for COVID-19 testing decreases, we plan to expand our offering to include other tests - including sexually transmitted diseases, urinary tract infections and fl u - and plan to automate our workfl ow using an ASSIST PLUS pipetting robot. It is a perfect and affordable solution for our needs, and Integra’s customer service is quick, responsive and helpful.”
