First Mixer Mill to Achieve Grind Sizes in the Nanometer Range
With the new Mixer Mill MM 500 Retsch has developed the first ball mill with a frequency of 35 Hz which produces enough energy for efficient wet grinding of samples down to the nanometer range.
Based on performance, operation, application fields and design the MM 500 is a unique combination of a classic mixer mill and a planetary ball mill! Hence, it is perfectly suited for long-term grindings of up to 99 hours with high energy input to obtain particles sizes <1 µm, e. g. for mechanical alloying or chemical reactions. Thanks to only moderate warming effects, no cooling breaks are required when using the MM 500. On top of that, operation and handling are more comfortable than with planetary ball mills.
The benchtop unit is also suitable for dry, wet and cryogenic grinding of sample volumes up to 2 x 45 ml in one working run. It mixes and pulverises powders and suspensions in only a few seconds. The instrument offers great flexibility due to grinding jar volumes of 50 ml, 80 ml, 125 ml and 4 different materials. These screw- lock jars, pressure-tight up to 5 bar, may remain clamped in the mill for taking a sub-sample.
The MM 500 can be controlled via the new optional Retsch App which provides functionalities like creation of application routines, access to the Retsch database or direct contact to the Retsch service team.

ilmt.co/PL/V12m Next-Generation Hotplate-Stirrer with Innovative IR Heating Technology
Innovative infrared heating technology from Wiggens has been used to produce the new generation hotplate-stirrer WH260 series. These laboratory stirrers are extremely well suited for gentle to intensive mixing of liquids, whilst concurrently quickly heating the liquids or simply keeping them at a steady temperature. The maximum temperature on the top plate allows up to 500ºC.
Infrared heating (IR) technology provides a high temperature hot plate stirrer with very high heating density that can reach a high median temperature. Ceramic glass by Schott combines chemical resistance, top quality surfaces and resistance to temperature shocks of greater than 700ºC.
By selecting an external temperature sensor, the control mode will switch automatically, allowing the sample temperature to be set and controlled directly. The sealed outer shell and isolated critical parts are designed for enhanced longevity, even in a harsh laboratory environment. The 3 sets of PID parameters means faster heating effect and better temperature stability are achieved.
A large LCD display is used to show and control all functions. The control panel sets working temperature, stirring speed, working time and safety temperature easily via rotating knobs. The memory function for stirring speeds and temperature settings provides convenience for experiments with fixed conditions.
Two models are available in this series: the WH260-H with square top plate, 180×180mm, 1000W, for general applications; the WH260-R with round top plate, φ135mm, 800W, for parallel applications.

51220pr@reply-direct.com New High-throughput Evaporator Series Combines Ease of Use and Reduced Environmental Impact
SP Scientific has announced the launch of the HT Series 3i Evaporators, the updated replacements for the highly successful HT Series 3 evaporator range. Already established as the ultimate in solvent removal technology, the new HT Series 3i evaporators have been developed to be even more user- and environment-friendly, while enabling enhanced evaporation and lyophilisation results.
Designed for high-throughput, high-speed performance, the HT Series 3i evaporators simplify and optimise the evaporation process. Dri-Pure®, anti- bumping technology prevents foaming and bumping to eliminate cross-contamination and sample loss, especially ideal for scientists working with problematic samples in synthesis and purification. The high-performance dry vacuum pump, and F-Gas compliant -75°C auto-defrost and draining condenser with R449A and R170 refrigerants, ensure the fastest, controlled evaporation of all sample types, yet with the lowest environmental impact and Global Warming Potential (GWP).
The SP Scientific HT Series 3i Evaporators have been designed to accommodate a wide range of options and accessories. These include sample holders for tubes, vials, flasks and 96 well plates, and options for HCl resistance, Inert Gas Purge (IGP), and exalt controlled crystallisation. The system is therefore compatible with corrosive acids, explosive solvents, and common organic solvents including high boiling point solvents such as DMSO and NMP. These extensive options ensure that the HT Series 3i range is ideal for many different applications including post-purification handling, parallel synthesis, crystallisation, compound storage and more.
For users, the intuitive touchscreen controls streamline the monitoring and review of the whole evaporation process. Simplified help screens, and improved pre-set routine and automatic programming, allow the most complex, multi-stage evaporation methods to be performed quickly and easily, even by occasional users. The compact and sleek design is unmistakably robust, and a new door actuator ensures error-free access even when in constant use.
With easy operation, minimum maintenance requirements, and almost no user intervention required during a run, the SP Scientific HT Series 3i Evaporators are the most innovative and environmentally- friendly evaporators yet. Ideal for applications in early drug discovery, natural products and flavours and fragrances research.

ilmt.co/PL/q01m Compressor-Free Plate Sealer Provides Flexibility and Process Effi ciency to Researchers
Thermo Fisher Scientific announces the launch of a next-generation, compressor-free plate sealer, designed to alleviate the maintenance burden on operators, while offering unparalleled process customisation capabilities, intuitive operation and significant work efficiencies.
As a fully electrically operated system, the Thermo Scientific ALPS 5000 has been developed to increase the efficiency of the heat plate sealing process and offers maximum flexibility to support high throughput applications. The system eliminates the need for tedious and costly replacement of expensive vacuum cups, onboard compressors and compressed air lines, typically required when using conventional pneumatically driven equipment. Designed as one of the most user-friendly units available on the market, the ALPS 5000 facilitates easy, tool-free foil loading and does not require the use of adapters to change between different plates. The system is operated via a large intuitive touchscreen with a modern user interface, which allows for precise control over sealing parameters to ensure repeatability, while including programming parameters for integration into automation or robotic workflows.
The ALPS 5000 offers superior process customisation capabilities to address varying application needs, from polymerase chain reaction and high performance liquid chromatography to next generation sequencing, compound storage and flow cytometry. Users can program the sealing time, temperature and pressure parameters to suit their specific requirements. They can also choose the most appropriate sealing foil length, opting for a longer foil to improve pealing or a shorter one to reduce foil usage by up to 10%. Moreover, the ALPS 5000 offers the flexibility to use either a traditional force sealing, or a distance sealing to maximise the number of times a plate can be resealed.
The ALPS 5000 offers fast sealing times, being able to seal up to four plates per minute. It also features a compact footprint to save valuable bench space. Furthermore, the ALPS 5000 has been equipped with an Eco Mode, which triggers a temperature reduction down to 30ºC when the system has been inactive for a pre-specified amount of time, allowing for considerable energy savings.
