effective autosampler for Ion Chromatography

Robust and Reproducible IEX Columns

IEX is a widely used standard in Bio QC, especially of monoclonal antibodies. However, one of the crucial requirements for any QC method is a reliable lot-to-lot reproducibility. Unlike many other IEX columns on the market including widely used ‘standard’ ones, YMC’s BioPro IEX columns provide excellent lot-to-lot reproducibility together with superior resolution. These features make them a fi rst choice for Bio QC!

YMC’s BioPro IEX columns are specifi cally designed for separation of antibodies, proteins, peptides, nucleic acids and oligonucleotides showing higher binding capacity and recovery of biomolecules compared to conventional IEX columns. BioPro IEX columns are based on porous or non-porous hydrophilic polymer beads with low nonspecifi c adsorption.

YMC’s BioPro IEX columns are available either as a porous or a non-porous version. The 5 µm porous materials offer exceptionally high effi ciency and low operating pressure, whilst the 3 or 5 µm non-porous particles provide high effi ciency, very high resolution and low operating pressures as well.

The non-porous BioPro IEX SF columns with strong CEX functionality are especially useful for the analysis of antibodies and can also replace weak exchangers. By substituting these columns, it is possible to achieve a better analysis in a shorter time.

HPLC Oven Accurately Controls Columns from Room Temperature to 90°C

Torrey Pines Scientifi c, Inc announces its new EchoTherm™ HPLC Column Oven Model CO20. The temperature range is from room temperature to 90°C readable and settable to 0.1°C. The PID temperature control software regulates temperatures to ±0.1°C. Temperature accuracy and stability are ±0.1ºC with a stable temperature indicator lamp on the front panel that lights when the target temperature is stable to within ±0.2ºC.

The unit holds columns up to 30 cm long by ¼” or 3/8” diameter in mounting clips provided with room for guard columns and fi ttings. Larger diameter columns may be used by removing the column clips that hold the smaller columns. The CO20 features simple controls, digital display of target and actual chamber temperatures, an injection counter, and 30-day timer with alarm and user settable Auto-Off. An accessory stand is available.

Fast, Simple, DIRECT.

The unit operates from 12 volts DC and comes with a bench top universal power supply for use anywhere in the world, 3-wire AC line cord for the country of use, counter cable, twelve month warranty and instruction manual. The Model CO20 is UL, CSA, and CE compliant.

Self-packing of prep or process column by end-users can be a quite challenging. Never the less there are a number of users who like to do their own packing. They appreciate the advantages of the high fl exibility and the speed of turnaround if a column has to be replaced, due to deteriorating performance or increasing back pressure. Although there are signifi cant cost savings in self packing, it is not a universal preference. The solution is to offer both possibilities to the customer: the possibility for self-packing, but also the option to purchase a column packed and qualifi ed ready to use.

It is benefi cial to have a similar column design available from small to large scale. Lab scale prep with dynamic/static axial compression (DAC/SAC) are available from 25 mm ID up to process scale with 300 mm ID. The ModCol™ line is available with the two different sized Multipackers® which deliver consistently high packing performance (close to zero failure rate) combined with high safety margins. The smaller ModCol Multipacker covers the range, 25, 30, 40 and 50 mm ID, while the larger model covers 50. 70, 101 and 150mm id.

For larger columns the Dr Maisch SAC column hardware is available in 100, 200 and 300 mm ID.

It is your decision whether to go for ready packed columns or whether you want to pack the columns yourself with the support of real experts and this decision can always be reviewed, depending on how the situation changes. The column hardware will always remain the same.
