One Size Fits All Laboratory Heating The Asynt DrySyn®

Perfect Homogenisation of Food Samples LTE Scientific Ltd

Greenbridge Lane, Greenfield, Oldham, UK, OL3 7EN T: +44 (0) 1457 876221 F: +44 (0) 1457 870131 E: info@lte-scientific.com W: www.lte-scientific.com

Retsch’s GRINDOMIX Knife Mills set new standards in food sample preparation. Whereas the well-proven GM 200 processes a maximum of 700ml sample material, the newly developed GM 300 homogenises larger quantities of up to 4.5 litres quickly and reproducibly. These mills meet and exceed all special laboratory and analytical requirements. They process substances with a high water, oil or fat content as quickly and reliably as dry, soft, medium-hard and fibrous products. This makes the instruments superior to any commercial household mixer.

The handling of the new GM 300 is exceptionally simple and safe. The container can be filled and emptied outside the mill, which makes cleaning very easy and helps to avoid cross-contamination by possible sample residues. Moreover, all parts of the GM 300 that come into contact with the sample material are autoclaveable.

Benefits include; efficient size reduction of up to 4,500ml sample due to powerful 1.1kW motor; pre- and fine grinding in one mill: cutting action in regular mode, grinding by impact in reverse mode; autoclaveable grinding tools; variable speed

range of laboratory heating blocks offers the ultimate in flexibility for heating (and cooling) round-bottomed flasks, tubes and vials. These efficient heating blocks can now be used with any hotplate stirrer regardless of shape or size and offer controlled heating for single or multiple reaction vessels with

volumes from 1ml to 5000ml. Unlike many other brands, DrySyn blocks can be used on any brand of hotplate stirrer without the need for adapter plates. Excellent reaction visibility and improved safety are additional benefits achieved by eliminating messy, potentially dangerous oil immersion

baths. Widely used in the pharmaceutical industry, DrySyn blocks are also popular with university teaching laboratories, as a single, low cost hotplate stirrer can be used to heat a wide range of different flask sizes.

The current DrySyn range is energy saving with a heat-up performance at least 25% faster than the equivalent size oil baths

and can heat reaction flasks up to 300ºC. The DrySyn Cool is used with a standard laboratory chiller and was shown in independent tests to give better temperature control, faster cooling (to -30ºC) and better ability to cope with exotherms than a conventional ice bath. All models are fully compatible with magnetic stirring. The excellent thermal transfer characteristics of the blocks not only give efficient heating and temperature control but also mean that flask breakages are almost unknown with DrySyn. The blocks are manufactured from 100% recyclable anodised aluminium.

Refractometer with Enhanced Performance

The RFM300+ Series of Peltier temperature controlled refractometers from Bellingham + Stanley has been adopted by many leading food and beverage manufacturers as the primary tool for controlling product yield and to assure end-point quality of finished goods.

Following improvement to the thermodynamic control system, the RFM340+ version now has an increased measurement performance between 0-20°Brix reducing potential measurement error in the critical range covering finished products such as sodas, fruit juice, beer, wine and cider. Improving the performance at the low end of the scale allows users to trim syrup dilution to the absolute minimum without the risk of breaching manufacturing specifications.

SG scales for sucrose are now common to the series. These scales may be used to express the relative density of pure sucrose solutions and when used in conjunction with a product offset from within the METHODS SYSTEM, can express finished beverages as an equivalent SG - just as if it were measured on a density meter. The instrument can also display both the °Brix and SG and by doing so, contract packers may now use a refractometer in situations where density °Brix or SG is dictated as the method of analysis, whilst retaining all the measurement advantages held by a refractometer.

Complete Range of Certified Standards

Horiba Scientific is supplying its own range of standards as well as Spex CertPrep standards. In consequence Horiba Scientific proposes a complete range of Certified Standards Samples specifically for Sulphur in Oil analysis, as well as many other components in all kind of hydrocarbon matrices.

The three basic sets are dedicated to the most famous analytical methods of sulfur in oil analysis. The calibration is very simple and reliable. It is available from stock for ultra quick delivery, selectable individually or by set; S in heavy Oil, set of 8 Standards from Blank up to 4%S - recommended for XRF: ASTM D4294 / ASTM D2622 / ISO 20 847; S in Base Oil, set of 14 standards from blank up to 1000 ppm S - recommended also for XRF, but mainly for UVF: ASTM D5453 / ISO 20 846; and S in Diesel Oil, set of 15 standards from blank up to 1000 ppm S - recommended mainly for UVF.

When the above range of product is not suitable for your application, Horiba Scientific proposes certified Custom Standards from Spex CertiPrep, which will totally match your requirements. You select the matrix, including any kind of Bio fuel, the elements and their concentrations for your standard and it will be made specially and delivered with certificate of analysis. For high quality results, this is the ideal solution to be sure you are always using the standards, which match the best your sample.
