43 Compact Dry Bath is Personal Incubator/Chiller/Freezer
Torrey Pines Scientific announces its EchoTherm™ Model IC20XR, Peltier driven, compact Chilling/Heating Dry Bath. This unit offers the broadest variety of precision-made aluminum sample blocks available anywhere. The Model IC20XR can freeze, chill or heat samples from -10°C to 110°C in assay plates, centrifuge tubes of all sizes, vials, and most any size test tube. It is particularly well suited to the molecular biology lab for doing hybridisations, sample prep for PCR, ligations, enzyme reactions and much more. It is also ideal for robotic applications where a small footprint and RS232 I/O port are required for remote control and data gathering.
The Model IC20XR has digital display and control of temperature to 1°C; count down timer in days, hours, minutes and seconds to 30 days; data logger; and RS232 interface to control the unit by computer or to record data. The compact unit measures 6.5" (16.5 cm) wide by 8.75" (22.23 cm) deep by 3.5" (8.9 cm) tall. It comes complete with chiller/heater module, universal power supply, AC line cord, and instructions. A variety of over 25 standard sample blocks are available. The EchoTherm™ Model IC20XR is UL, CSA and CE certified.

Special Controlled Environment Enclosure to Jaguar Land Rover
Bigneat has supplied Jaguar Land Rover with a controlled environment enclosure for its Emission Test Laboratory in Solihull (UK). Used for experimentation, testing and production, Bigneat offers a range of enclosures and cabinets featuring controlled atmospheres: Humidity (<1% to 85% RH); Steady Temperature (4°C to 40°C); Clean Air (ISO Class 5 to EN 14644 Standard); and Modified Atmospheres for aerobic, hypoxic or anaerobic conditions. Jaguar Land Rover’s goal was to control cleanliness, temperature and humidity in order to achieve consistent testing conditions and results. A highly controlled environment was required, as well as maximum operator protection. Bigneat, working with Jaguar Land Rover and robot supplier Mettler Toledo, developed a totally custom built enclosure.
The special design includes two controlled environment compartments. The first is fully accessible by operators and is used for preparation and storage. The second contains the Mettler Toledo F-A747 robot and is where precise control is kept of the conditions. Temperature is maintained at 23°C ± 0.5°C and humidity at 45% RH ± 3%. The design also provides clean air for the surrounding room to minimise contamination.
The unit includes a chilled water coil, which reduces temperature and de-humidifies. A heating element raises the air temperature when it falls below 23°C ± 0.5°C. Steam is injected into the airflow from a separate humidifier unit to develop the correct humidity. The system is controlled and monitored by a control system, which manages the re-circulating and make-up air velocities. An alarm warns of low airflow conditions.

ADVERTORIAL Making your Measurement Life Easier: photoLab® Data spectral The PC software photoLab® Data spectral is a very helpful tool offering the most convenient data management for spectrophotometers of WTW’s photoLab® 6100 VIS and 6600 UV-VIS. They can be exchanged, safely backed-up and post-processed:
• GLP-compliant administration of data reading instrument ID and using the complete user administration as set in the photoLab® • Data transfer from photoLab®
meters 6000 series to PC for post-processing and graphical elaboration in the user environment, e.g. with LIMS or spreadsheet
• Export of scans into spectra software for a consistent display and evaluation of multiple spectra • Matching several meters at a time with methods, profiles and software-updates. • Data mangement of the IQ-LabLink job files: The data sets contain all raw values of the WTW Online System IQ SENSOR NET and the matching reference values from the spectrophotometers of the photoLab®
6000 Series. photoLab® – The new
Generation of WTW Spectrophotometers
WTW’s photoLab® photometers offer a unique combination of routine and research features.
Routine measurements are covered with a wide range of commercial tests and extended Analytical Quality Assurance (AQA) functionality. Research users have a full range of applications including spectral scans, kinetics and multi-wavelength measurements to complete their analyses.
photoLab® 6100 VIS is designed for use in the VIS
range from 320 to 1100 nm and offers the best optical performance in its class. It is ideal for water analysis with commercial tests kits, and all kind of VIS measurements in routine labs or education.
photoLab® 6600 UV-VIS, with a wavelength range
from 190 to 1100 nm is designed to cover all applications in the complete UV-VIS range. Direct methods e.g. SAC at 254 nm are already stored for immediate use. The photoLab®
6600 UV-
VIS is an excellent choice not only for water analysis and service labs but also for
teaching and research. Circle no. 167 Circle no. 168 6000
