39 Free Monograph for Voltammetric Analysis Methods in Electroplating

Due to their high selectivity and low detection limits, voltammetric analysis methods are indispensable in surface finishing and PCB production. The application spectrum ranges from bath control to wastewater analysis. The present monograph is free of charge and provides a comprehensive overview of specific methods and also covers the determination of organic additives.

The first part of the monograph is dedicated to wastewater analysis in the galvanic industry using stripping voltammetric methods. Analytical methods for chromium, cyanide, nickel, cobalt, zinc, cadmium, lead, copper, tin and the complexing agents EDTA and NTA are described. Since wastewater almost always contains organic compounds, samples must be pre-processed prior to analysis. For this purpose, the authors recommend UV treatment using Metrohm’s 705 UV Digester.

The second and more comprehensive part of the monograph addresses the voltammetric analyses of galvanic baths. The authors provide a systematic overview of the different bath types for each element as well as their primary and secondary components. The most important analytical methods are subsequently presented step-by-step. The practical value of the book is further enhanced by numerous references to other cost-free publications (application bulletins, application notes).

Biochemical Identification Systems Allow Rapid Identification of Clinically Significant Micro-organisms

Once More One of the Best – Huber is Again Awarded the TOP 100 Seal for Innovation!

Dynamic Temperature Control Systems

Dynamic Thermoregulation with no Alternative for Laboratory and Production!

Thermo Fisher Scientific announced that its range of biochemical identification kits is one of the widest available to clinical microbiologists today, providing reliable results in simple and convenient formats. The range, which includes the rapid and easy-to-use Remel RapID™ microbial identification systems and the Oxoid Microbact™ biochemical identification kits, requires no capital investment, so it allows even small laboratories to confirm the identification of clinically significant bacteria, yeasts and fungi.

The RapID range is the fastest and most convenient identification system of its kind. With its simple, one- step inoculation procedure, it allows accurate identification of a comprehensive range of micro- organisms in just four hours. The RapID method detects pre-formed bacterial enzymes and, therefore, is not dependent on the growth of the organism. This allows the panels to be incubated aerobically without the need for oil overlays, which saves time and resources.

Each RapID kit has the same simple procedure, allowing it to be adopted easily in laboratory workflows, and the biochemical reactions are clearly visible as distinct colour changes. These are interpreted quickly and conveniently by the Electronic RapID Compendium (ERIC™), a user-friendly, Windows®

-

based software package, to minimise misidentifications and to ensure accurate and reliable results.

Huber has extended the Unistat® range of highly dynamic temper- ature control systems with four new models. The Unistat®

905, 905w,

912w and 915w have been designed for tasks in process and chemical engineering such as temperature control of reactors, autoclaves, mini and pilot plants, reaction blocks and calorimeters.

In trials, RapID kits demonstrated excellent performance in the identification of oxidase negative Enterobacteriaceae, anaerobic bacteria, Gram-negative glucose non-fermenters, Corynebacterium species, yeasts and related organisms and streptococci and related organisms. In addition, a new system for the identification of staphylococci and related organisms is now available.

These new models cover a temperature range from -90°C to +250°C and have heating powers of 6kW. In addition, depending on the model, the new Unistats® 4,5 kW up to 11 kW. Unistats®

have cooling powers from are also equipped with a 5.7”

colour TFT display for easy control. The display shows all important parameters at a glance and is even capable of illustrating temperature processes in graphic and real time. Powerful speed regulated circulation pumps with delivery rates up to 110 l/min guarantee an ideal circulation and the soft start protects glass reactors against breakage.

The TOP 100 Seal has been confirmed! For the second year running, Peter Huber Kältemaschinenbau GmbH has been named one of the TOP 100 most innovative middle sized enterprises in Germany!

Professor Dr. Nikolaus Franke holds the chair for entrepreneurship and innovation at the University of Economics in Vienna. There, the innovative behaviour of small and middle sized enterprises, from all branches of industry all over Germany is assessed and evaluated, culminating in the Top 100 companies.

Huber, a family business, manufactures highly precise and environmentally friendly temperature control systems for temperatures between -120°C to 425°C. One third of the products developed are bespoke systems used in various industries such as research & development and Pharmaceutical production.

Daniel Huber commented “We were immensely pleased with the success of the previous year. Our workforce has shown great motivation, despite the crisis period. Huber innovation has revolutionised the world of temperature control technology and this renewed confirmation increases our motivation to belong to the best”.
