High-Output Compressor Range Features 50/60hz Dual Frequency As Standard


The Gast Group’s Jun-Air range of ultra-quiet compressors provide clean, dry air for laboratory applications and include the oil-free OF1200, a higher-output version of the best selling OF300. The OF1200 has an output of 130 l/min at 8 bar – a useful 45% increase over the OF300 – greatly extending the potential applications for the oil-free range.


In addition, the OF1200’s 50/60Hz dual frequency gives it the flexibility to operate anywhere in the world without the need for modification, and versions are available to operate at 10 bar maximum pressure.


Units feature the same unique cooling system, wear-resisting piston rings and proven manufacturing technology as the OF300 and are designed for 100% reliability in continuous operation. They are constructed with fewer moving parts in order to reduce wear and provide maximum reliability, minimum maintenance and a long working life; and receivers are internally coated to guarantee an air supply that is in optimum condition.


To make installation easier for integrated solutions and demanding OEM-applications, multiple outlet ports are provided to allow connection in various directions.


The OF1200 range is vibration-free and extremely quiet, operating at just 76dB(A) as free- standing units. When housed in optional silent-running cabinets the noise level is reduced to as low as 55dB(A). However, where quieter compressors are required, the Gast Group’s range of soundproof


cabinets for the OF1200 reduce sound emissions to as low as 55 dB(A).


The cabinets can be used free-standing or wall-mounted and are available for compressors with outputs up to 146 l/min at 8 bar and tank sizes up to 40 litres. They feature a removable top for easy access, and are designed with usability, hygiene and maintenance in mind. All compressors are equipped with efficient ventilation and cooling to ensure their 100% continuous duty cycle is maintained when installed in a cabinet.

Hi-end Automatic Film Applicator for Coatings and Ink


The new TQC Automatic film applicator is developed to meet the demands of the modern paint and coatings laboratories. Parameters such as film thickness, opacity, hiding power, gloss/color all vary with different draw down techniques. Efficient testing of coatings, ink and their formulations requires reproducible and accurate film samples applied on test-charts, specimens and test panels. Draw down speed and consistency, type and weight of the applicator, shear rate of the coatings etc. are all factors that influence the smoothness and uniformity of the applied film. These factors are all excluded when utilising an automatic film applicator.


The TQC Automatic film applicator is equipped with unique ergonomic features that eliminate many steps in the standard operation procedure. An automatic chart clamp secures and releases the test-chart, the holder for the applicator returns automatically after the application leaving wire wound rod coaters in a special holder.


The speed is between 0 and 500 mm/s freely adjustable as are the length and start/stop positions. All settings are made digitally through the multi-lingual menu-driven human interface that offers an intuitive operation using a convenient jog/dial switch.


The operator orientation of the film applicator results in a small footprint that saves counter space however the machine accepts test charts as large as A3+ sizes. An ultra flat float glass bed or anodised perforated vacuum bed with integrated vacuum pump are available as test table.


To guarantee operators safety the TQC Automatic film applicator is equipped with an emergency switch but also with a range of intelligent safety sensors that detect objects between the machine's moving parts. Based upon the operating status and draw down length the machine instantly will recognise a dangerous situation, which will lead to a full stop of the process.

New Powder Flow Pro Software Delivers Critical Test Data


Brookfield Engineering has released Powder Flow Pro V1.1, a new updated version of Brookfield’s automated software used to control its Powder Flow Tester. Significant changes include a modified test method designed to achieve “critical consolidation” of the powder sample contained in the shear cell. Updated data graphics and improved test formats are also provided. The new Powder Flow Pro V1.1 is available via download free of charge to customers who have purchased a Brookfield Powder Flow Tester.


With this new critical consolidation procedure, the shear cell Trough turns in repeated short rotations while a constant consolidation stress is applied by the Vane Lid. This causes the powder material to settle into place, removing air pockets and achieving a ‘low-energy’ state. With the powder packed as tight as possible, the instrument can then determine the powder’s failure strength by shearing the material in the Lid against the material in the Trough.


The new Powder Flow Pro software also features improved graphing capabilities, allowing for additional ways to use and manipulate data. Powder Flow Pro calculates and displays data in a variety of formats at the end of each test, and is able to overlay up to eight separate powder sample tests on a single graph for easy comparison.

They are made of a specially pigmented polymethyl pentene (PMP) plastic that provides excellent absorption of light. In particular, absorption in the UV range – below 280nm and the upper visible range above 580nm - yet provides sufficient translucency to verify contents and volume, in most applications superior to amber glass. It provides a sunlight protection factor of nearly 20. Flasks are light weight and break resistant, and provide a cost-effective alternative to glass. Screw-on caps help protect flask contents better than traditional stoppers. Flasks are available in sizes from 10mL to 1000mL. All volumes are Class A per DIN EN ISO 1042.
