iv Perfect Performance From Miele
Ensuring that standards of apparatus cleanliness do not jeopardise the outcome of analytical experiments is of ultimate importance in large laboratories and hospital CSSDs and requires complex treatment processes and excellent efficiency.
Miele’s new single-cabinet unit, the PG 8527 will simplify and speed up the task of reprocessing laboratory glassware. The PG 8528 washer disinfector is a two door unit for installation in a barrier wall designed for a Hospital central sterilising department forming part of a decontamination process for surgical instruments.
These units are also extremely versatile, adapting easily to changing workloads and adjusting to differing user requirements. Featuring Miele's new, simple-to-use Perfect Touch display which has the controls set in a perfectly flush glass screen, allowing simple and effective surface disinfection. Activating functions and launching programmes, even when wearing protective gloves, is simple and the intuitive menu system does not require explanation or practice.
The machine's display indicates whether the rotational speeds of the spray arms are within the specified range or whether intervention is needed, for example on account of rotation of the lower spray arm being slowed down by an excessive build-up of foam. This is achieved using a Perfect Speed spray arm monitoring unit, a standard feature for which patents are pending on all models. All readings are continuously monitored and out-of-range readings result in the programme aborting automatically to allow the user to eliminate the cause of the problem. This saves valuable time for more serious laboratory business. The process documentation system can be programmed to record any discrepancies that may occur during reprocessing.
Current standards stipulate that cleaning agent volume should be independently monitored. Miele’s new Perfect Flow control system allows very precise control of the dosage and offers a much greater margin of safety than previous systems. This new technology is far superior to other measuring systems such as simple flowmeters as these are at the mercy of ambient conditions. The accurate dispensing of detergents and process chemicals with great precision is vital to guarantee perfect results
Even the slightest traces of residue in the rinse water can seriously impair reprocessing results. The controls on this new line of machines can be programmed to warn operatives if the last rinse is out of range of values entered by the user. This Perfect Pure sensor offers an absolute maintenance- free conductivity system, avoiding unnecessary calibration and maintenance costs.
The PG 8527/8 machines benefit from Profitronic+ controls and have 64 programme places, with 16 places allocated to standard cleaning and disinfecting programmes. In addition to the tried and tested ‘Universal’ and ‘Intensive’ programmes, the machine is equipped with the new 'Anorganica' and 'Organica' special programmes. 'Anorganica', for example, is designed for use on glassware contaminated with inorganic residue 'Organica' has been developed to remove solid or viscous organic matter such as oil, grease, wax or ointment. Programming can be carried out directly onto the machine or via the Remote Services option.
The installation of a Remote Services Assistant (RSA) module means far fewer visits from a Miele service engineer. The RSA allows information to be gathered, and any modifications to be carried out remotely by electronic data transfer, via an analogue modem, ISDN or GSM. In the event of an error message the Miele service department will be alerted automatically, making it possible to make an initial diagnosis quickly. Should a service visit be required the technician will be able to bring all the necessary components with him, keeping down-times to an absolute minimum.
The safe reprocessing of laboratory glassware such as pipettes, beakers and Erlenmeyer flasks is guaranteed using the extensive tried- and-tested modular system consisting of mobile injector units, baskets and inserts available for Miele washer disinfectors.
